And if you guys are First Age fans like I am, I recommend skipping the first HoMEs (where it goes thru LoTR-related things like Trotter the Ranger, etc.) and going to things like Morgoth's Ring and the other Sil/FA -related stuff.

I have the Lays of Beleriand and the Book of Lost Tales part One.
I haven't gotten around to finishing them yet, though. It's confused me a bit, though. It's kind of like reading the Constitution with all the additions edited in and translations and comments written all over it...
