It's only because it says it in a book that was written several thousand years ago.

He doesn't, he gave us free will and we can do whatever we want, but violating his laws aren't necessarily good.

There have been several floods over the 'life span' of the Earth.

Job is an awesome book. It teachs TONS about faith in God.

Please use the Theist post for proselytizing. Job is fun but Jacob did the wrestling. Why does god always go for the folding chair first j/k?

Yah. We could stop arguing about the origins of the earth and start arguing about whether Balrogs have wings or not.

All that has to do with is what is written in a book. It has nothing to do with the search or proof that god exists. Science is for the search of truth. You guys aren't doing much other than quoting out of the bible. I can equally quote out of The Silmarillion and it's not any more or less true than what you're saying.

"In the beginning Eru, the One, who in the Elvish tongue is named Ilúvatar , made the Ainur of his thought; and they made a great music before him.

In that time the Valar brought order to the seas and the lands and the mountains, and Yavanna planted at last the seeds that she had long devised."

This is my 500th post.

Please don't patronize me. Let me assure you that I read all the parts I commented on and alot more. I discussed it some of it with my priest even (Catholic priest, of course, in case the denomination makes a difference in some of the basic tenets, but in this case, I think not.). The poor man did try, and in a non-patronizing way too, I'll give him that much. But I could find no satisfactory justification either in the material itself or anybody else's explanation. Maybe some people think that that kind of behaviour is ok. I don't. And that's that. I'm wasting my time with this religion. It's definitely not for me.

Sometimes I think I'm Buddhist at heart. But I don't "practice" any religion. Meaning I don't go to churches or temples to participate in arcane and bizarre rituals and that really have nothing to do with anything. I don't "worship" anything because I think that anything worthy of that is not the kind of thing that would specifically demand my worship. But I try to go through life in such a way that my impact on the world is a positive one. I don't care about your god anymore.

I have, actually. I asked him, "Why is everyone so weird?" He said, "Because I made them that way." I then asked, "Why?" and he told me, "Hey, look, I don't get cable like you do."

Thanks -

It's not that far though for you. You just have to have no life like me. But I'm not as bad as FrodoFriend - I think she lives here - or maybe she hires people to post for her.

I'm still wondering if someone will answer one of my earlier questions...

"In your eyes, God made us. He created us. With that comes how we work. And if humans are capable of love, they are capable of hate. Therefore in creating us, creating the way we work: he has given us these abilities to do these things. Never give someone the ability to do something you don't want them to do. That's his big flaw. If he did it on purpose, however, and he punishes them - and I manipulate a quote from Ever After -- What are you but making criminals and then punishing them for it, when you're the one who raised them that way?"

This is a big bugger for me.
