Good morning dear Sis! (It's afternoon for me ) I'm enjoying my well-deserved vacation at the moment and I don't have to go back to school until the end of January, but starting the day after tomorrow I work fulltime for 2 weeks, then I have to study for my retake and somehow I have to get started on my thesis.
Do you have some time off?

I start a small directing thing Saturday, but otherwise, pretty light. Good thing...the contents of my kitchen are presently in boxes all over the livingroom. "Cosy" wouldn't be anyone's first choice of adjective, lol.

I love the new look, though. Just need to finish the re-org.

Directing? Sounds important! *is impressed (not that that says anything really since I'm easily impressed, but still )*

You had your kitchen reorganized? How come?
*puts the kettle on for a nice cup of tea and finishes making pumpkin/sesame rolls*
If you have a minute, I'll pour you some tea.

Oh and I just saw that your 1 year anniversary is coming up! On the 20th of this month. We'll have to celebrate

Really. Has it been that long? Sure, surfed in on a "marmite" search.

I never committed to this kitchen, hence it's organized by the "open door, toss object in" method. It didn't bother me as much as it should, because I had other plans.

Well, now it looks like this kitchen and I will be sharing space for a while, so we're making acquaintance, via paint and reorg. Took everything out, washed and relined cabinets and drawers, and yesterday built a breakfast buffet.

I'd love a cup of tea, before I venture out to IKEA for some organizing hardware.

The directing thing is minor, but fun. Scene study for Midsummer Night's Dream. I have to print some scripts, in the next coupla.

Mari, you have to try caramel machiatos! I have always hated the taste of coffee myself but I love those! Granted, I had my first one after I had gotten more or less over my aversion to coffee, but it doesn't taste like coffee at all.

But what's the point of disguising coffee so it doesn't taste like coffee? Then just drink something else and don't call it coffee. Or am I alone in this?

Sis, you're doing Midsummer Night's Dream?!? I LOVE that! I think that's one of Shakespeares best short pieces. I can't read it silently. I just HAVE to speak out loud when reading it. And change the rolls with yourself, so adjusting your voice. *sigh* I should read it again, it's fun. But that might be just my weird side surfacing...
Oh and good luck with your getting acquinted with your kitchen. Can't wait till I have my own. *starts daydreaming about her future apartment and its furnishings*

Well, you could always make that kind of thing without coffee and put pure caffeine in instead... I do understand what you're saying though, but as long as it tastes good I don't think it really matters.

Speaking of furnishings I can't wait until we make room for the Lazy-Boy in here. Perfect for sitting and reading.

Correction. You stayed up until 12:02 on New Year's Day, because it's not New Year's Eve after 11:59. :P

I stayed up until three-ish, as I had most of the rest of the week.

So it's New Year's Eve on the 31st and New Year's Day of the 1st? I take it in English no one uses 'Old Year's Eve' for the 31st, then.

No, not alone. and one of those caramel mochiattos from Starbucks (whole milk) is 250 calories, 9 grams of fat (grande). nonfat, you can get it down to 190. http://www.healthyweightforum.org/en...ucks_calories/
In contrast, for 220 calories, with 5 grams of fat, you can have 3 pieces of Godiva chocolate. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10725737/ Since you're a dark chocolate eater, even fewer calories, and less fat. Don't take it up. Silly habit.

"Eve", in English, implies before. Therefore, "Christmas Eve" is the night before Christmas, not the evening of. "The eve of our great victory" would be anticipatory, not celebratory.

None of it is logical. The solstice is the shortest day, therefore the midpoint of winter. Neither December 25th nor January 1st are, really, anything at all. They're arbitrary, in any language.

Oh, it isn't quite that. We've got the Eve-thing in Christmas Eve too. But in Dutch we usually refer to the 31st of december as 'Old Year's Day' or 'Old Year's Eve'. Somehow I expected that in English too.

I never even thought of calling it Old Year's Eve. Hmmmmm.... But it's the day before the start of the new year, so it would make sense (at least to me) to call it New Year's Eve.

I personally don't like my coffee to taste too much like coffee, becuase then it's too coffee-y. . I'd rather have a frappuccino. But coffee is good with milk (especially flavored coffees) and the flavored coffee powders.

My New Year has gone quite well so far . I actually feel a bit sleepy tonight, so I might be able to get to bed at a sane hour .

I go back to school starting the 14th. When does everyone else go back?
