I got an email today telling me that my study advisor couldn't advise me till the people from the internship got back to her, but I should keep her appraised in any case... Erm, no offence but you are supposed to be the one keeping me appraised, right?

I've noticed that some people on this board seem to like alcohol, is all. I was just saying. I'm more in Earn's camp, though I don't really like orange juice. I prefer cookies and milk or some kind of mixed grape juice (i.e., grape apple, grape cherry, etc.)

True that Midge, and I actually think the observed alcohol-liking could be extrapolated to the world's population. Just as the liking for cookies is a global phenomenon

Though I personally think alcohol and cookies are apt for very different occasions, respectively.

Indeed. Cookies are good for before noon, alcohol for after.

That just means more beer for me! Coffee and cookies is a good celebration too!

And Varnafinde, I was a Tolkien messageboard slut back in 2000-2001...
Never got into RP here. Have been sticking to a couple places for that, usually where posts dont fly fast and furious.

Rar... I hate the end of semester rush. I don't like adrenaline. You know, when you think you've got everything in, but then you see other people in your class writing things down on their calendars and you think, "Oh, no! Did I forget something???"

And you promise yourself you'll look into it, and you don't.

Feeling so happy after a great afteroon. Had a great time in the art club, and then I read the Reader's Digest Christmas number (issue? publish? whatever ); 't was wonderful. Some thoughts and jokes coming up!

"The smaller you are, the bigger a Christmas you'll get." -Tove Jansson (my fave )

"Christmas is a safe where you keep the memory of innocence." -Joan Mills

"Time and love are the basic ingredients for a good Christmas." -Peg Bracken

Then to the jokes.

"Santa Claus asked a four year old boy in a mall:
- Well, what's your name?
The boy asked astounded:
- You don't know?"

"A boy saw Santa Claus in a mall, and told him what he wanted for Christmas. Later the same day he saw another Santa, who asked him what is it he wants for Christmas. The boy said: - You should write these things down."

"A lawyer dies, and arrives at heaven's gate.
- There has to be a mistake, he says.
- I'm too young to die, only 50.
- 50? Wonders Saint Peter.
- We calculated you to be 82.
- Why?
- We summed the working hours you had charged for."

"A woman sat in a bus behind two elderly ladies, and another started to complain about her ailments. Her friend bested her by saying:
- When I woke up this morn, I thought I was dead, because there was no pain in my body."

"A married couple took their three sons to a fine restaurant for the first time. They ordered a bottle of wine, and the waiter poured a little wine for the woman to taste. The 6-year-old boy said:
-Mom usually drinks a lot more than that!"

I came over this joke a few days ago... it's kinda neat

"A man in Tesco's Nottingham tries to buy half a cauliflower. The very young produce assistant tells him that they sell only whole cauliflowers. The man persists and asks to see the manager. The boy says he'll ask his manager about it.

Walking into the back room, the boy said to his manager,

'Some prat out there wants to buy half a cauliflower.'

As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, 'And this gentleman has kindly offered to buy the other half.'

The manager approved the deal, and the man went on his way.

Later the manager said to the boy, 'I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?'

'Aberdeen, sir,' the boy replied. 'Well, why did you leave Aberdeen?' the manager asked.

The boy said, 'Sir, there's nothing but whores and footballers up there.'

'Really?' said the manager. 'My wife is from Aberdeen.'

'You're kidding?' replied the boy. 'Who'd she play for?'"

I got the best birthday gift I could ever imagine (and I didn't even imagine it!) today!!!!
A portable (2,5 dl) French coffeepress What more can a student ask for... It does magickal things!

The biggest mistake though is how a lawyer could end up at heaven's gate at all

PublishAmerica will be publishing me. I just went into Pre-Production and my deadline is Feb 1 do do any last minute edits or changes. I like how the author is directly involved in everything and the best part is there is no author fee.

I'll be keeping yall updated

So they basically are helping you with Self publishing?

Btw, your link doesn't work, there's an extra 'i' in it - try http://www.publishamerica.com/ instead.

Edit:
And I've got bad news for you - they are not recommended
I followed some links at the NaNoWriMo site and found them there ...
They're a vanity press that does Print-on-demand, so if that is all you want, I suppose it's ok - but you might want to read this article

And don't let them make you buy your own books ...

I just ordered a refurbished iPod touch... definitely expensive, but I'm hoping that it will be convenient. I'm planning to primarily use it as a musical resource and as a calendar. There are TONS of awesome musical applications for it like pianos, metronomes, a thing where you can put sheet music on it(!!!!!), a thing that figures out the key of what you're listening to, a thing for tapping out a beat and it tells you what it would be on a metronome, and of course the ability to listen to MP3s and store important voice lesson stuff (pronunciation of words, etc.).

The only way I'm able to justify it to myself is that I actually am pretty sure that I'll use it every single day for practicing and general music stuff.

I'm pretty stoked. Does anyone else own one?
