So both of my professors for the next five weeks seem nice.

The male is a little irritating though... he keeps diving off course and making things awkward by trying to 'personally' address students and really get to know them. I keep having to bite my tongue to not say, "This is a five week course. Stop chatting and get teaching!" -_-

Plus he does that really irritating thing where he tries to find things out about students and then 'relate' to them. The first day was mainly him having us introduce ourselves and then tell us what we should do with our major... everyone was getting uncomfortable because he kept saying things that showed he really didn't have a very clear idea of what our fields were.

The kids who didn't really know what they wanted to do were getting uncomfortable because he was asking them stuff about their major they didn't know, and those of us who knew what we wanted to do were getting irritated because he kept saying totally incorrect things about our major/field. He seems like a nice enough guy though...

Economics and Statistics. Here we go. O_o

Ugh. I watched the movie Sanctum last night with my husband and my brother. That pretty much describes the entire influence of my day, and thus how it is going.

IMDb for Sanctum

Yargh. I have major writers block and it's agitating me. I've got about four seperate books going on top of a follow up/prequel novella, yes it does get quite overbearing. So I thought I'd take a break for a while and check out the Moot. I wish I had internet service all the time because it's so fun here, but sadly I can't afford it every month. Good times.

I got put in my place yesterday at work: I work as cleaning lady for old people, helping out during my vacation and it is customary to have a cup of tea and have a chat at around 10.

Yesterday I worked for an old lady and I was allowed to make a cup of tea for myself when she hobbled to a cabinet and took out a fancy tin with even fancier cookies. She took 1 cookie out and placed in on her walking aid. I was surprised she only took out 1 cookie for the 2 of us.
Then she reached in again and took out an old dingy tin and from it a dry biscuit. With those on her walking aid she hobbled back, sat down, put the dry biscuit down in front of me and started eating her own fancy cookie. Not only that, she clearly didn't want to chat with me, the mere help, because she took out a crossword and started solving it.

I've been doing this work during my holidays for a lot of years now, but this is the first time I've ever been treated this way.
It was rather funny in hindsight. I was so flabbergasted!

A woman was driving past a police cruiser on speed limit control. She wooshed past. The police took up the chase and the woman stopped the car a little further on. One of the policemen stepped out and walked over to the woman’s car.

Police: - You were driving way to fast!
Woman: - Oh, dear, I understand.
Police: - May I see your driver’s license?
Woman: - I would gladly do that, but I don’t have any.
Police: - You don’t have any?
Woman: - I’ve lost it four times and have driven under the influence of alcohol.
Police: - May I see your car registration?
Woman: - Unfortunately not.
Police: - Why not?
Woman: - Ive stolen the car.
Police: - Stolen it?
Woman: - Yeah! And Ive murdered the owner and chopped him up in pieces.
Police: - Im sorry? Run that by me again.
Woman: - Ive put the chopped pieces in plastic bags and lay them in the trunk, if you care to check.
The policeman looks at her, slowly retreats to the cruiser and calls for backup.
In a few minutes five more police cruisers show up. Along with a Chief Inspector, who approaches the car his gun drawn.
Police nr 2: - Could you please get out of the car?
Woman: - Is there a problem?
Police nr 2: - My colleague has informed me that you have stolen the car and murdered the owner.
Woman: - Murdered the owner?
Police nr 2: - Could you please open the trunk?
The woman opens the trunk and it’s empty.
Police nr 2: - Is this your car?
Woman: - Naturally, and here is my car registration.
The police inspector is now quite speechless.
Police nr 2: - My collegue says that you haven’t got any driver’s license.
The woman rummages through her bag and brings out her purse and shows him her license.
Police nr 2: - I must admit that I’m a bit confused. My colleague has informed me that you haven’t got any drivers license, no car registration, that you have stolen the car and murdered the owner!
Woman: - Well, next thing you’ll know is that he’ll claim that I’ve been speeding too!!

Yes, I'm on holiday and was not in Oslo yesterday.
My colleagues were on holiday as well, and my boss has talked to the caretaker and heard that our offices are ok, too. But the shop windows on the ground floor of the building are broken. Our offices are about 3-4 minutes walk away from the government offices that were hit.

So. I just finished a week at a camp for girls ages 4th-7th grade. I have many stories, but will only share what I think to be the funniest. They both involve not the girls, but the boys whose mothers were helping out.

Story 1: One night, my girls found out these boys had pizza and wanted some, so I trekked over to their cabin to try to get some. I knocked on the door and when they finally opened it to me, the little boy who stuck his head out greeted me.

"Nazis."

"I just want some pizza." He points to the leftover boxes sitting on someone's bed. I have to go get them myself, which means I have to walk into a cabin full of boys (*shudder*).

I open the top box. There's one full piece of pepperoni and a half-eaten piece.

"Hey. Take that piece out of there."

And of course, which piece of pizza does he grab?

The full one.

*sigh*

Story 2:

The following conversation actually happened within hearing distance of my actual ears.

Boy 1: "Hey, guys! Where's Noah?"
Boy 2: "He exploded."
Boy 3: "Aw, man. Don't you hate it when that happens? That's the problem with that brand."
Boy 2: "Yeah, I think he's from Sears."

[/stories]

Anyone want some pizza?

I have a friend who just got a job... today is his second day.

Before his first day he was talking about how worried he was about doing a good job.

Then on the first day he was 6 minutes late, and apparently spent the whole time worrying that he wouldn't be able to learn things fast enough (although apparently no one was pressuring him... it was just a 'feeling' he had).

Then today, his second day, he was asked to arrange a drawer of merchandise and half way through he forgot how he was supposed to do it, so rather than admit that he needed some help he just did it his own way. Then he called me up and complained that he doesn't think he can learn fast enough.

Is it just me or is that ridiculous behavior? Being late, spending your entire time complaining that you're being taught too fast instead of paying attention, and then not asking for help when you need it. I ask because I've been accused of being too harsh in the past. But I'm sensing a trend of complaining, and of actions not matching the claims that this friend makes. I want to be a supportive friend, but I'm wondering if instead of saying, "aww sorry that's so rough," I should be saying, "maybe you need to work smarter." Maybe it's not my business. I think I'm probably going to stick to just being sympathetic.
