I know they're not cheap! My mom paid 200$ for Suzie.

I would love to see pics when you get her.
She's a "he". We were gonna get one earlier on (in august) when we came back from our world trip, but he was a little sickly, so the breeder is keeping him.

Here's the little booger @ six weeks

We paid NZ$700 for him. They are pricey cats (cheapest you can get away with is around NZ$500), but we wanted to get a breed that suited living in an apartment, and ragdolls are supposed to be hugely laid back.

It depends on the species and the size of the tank, they only live for five years max and that's with the biggest species (up to 30 feet long and weighing 600 pounds) but the more common types are rarely over three feet long and twenty pounds when full grown. Mine only got maybe a foot long because of his enclosure.

Yes, they can be quite expensive. They really are only qualified for people who are experienced with fish or tanks, or who can devote alot of time to them. They require a minimum of a 55 gallon tank (on average, could be smaller or larger depending on the species) And extremely good filtration. What's more, you have to do a one-third water change every month. They are best kept alone and with plenty of places to hide and lots of things to play with. They rquire alot of interaction, but dont do so when they are first introduced into the tank, or they could ink. Unless you have a protein skimmer or bio-wheel filter it could kill the octopus, they could also get scared if you bother them too much and could bang themselves up on the walls of the tank. If you want one, be prepared to drop some serious cash for a tank and filter, along with rocks, plants and substrates and the risk that the octopus could be old when you get it and live only a couple of months, there's no way to tell their age. You should set up a tank with sand and live rock, glueing the live-rock together so that the octopus cant overturn them onto itself. Then add prepared water to the tank. If you really want one, talk to a devoted store owner, or I can talk you through the process.

I don't think it would work right now with my lifestyle, (I move all the time) but maybe in a few years or so! They've always been my favorites to see at aquariums, I think they're fascinating creatures. I've had quite a few fish, and I really like them. I wouldn't say that I'm "experienced" though, and I've never done saltwater. I'd have to do some more research before I jumped into something like that, but I think someday perhaps. Thanks

Your very welcome.
The hardest thing about keeping one is the set-up. You just have to have so many variables right. But they really are worth it. They are so intelligent and fun to have around.

I thought that this was funny:

I was takng a nap and I feel something on my chest. I open my left eye just barely, and can see my tiny yellow cat (her name's Emi, and I swear she's only five pounds and full grown) standing on my chest, bobbing her head like a bird and making this weird chirping sound. It's hard enough not to laugh, but then she puts her nose right up to my eye, and her whiskers start to tickle, and so I grunt real quietly because it's so funny and she kind of jerks back, so I just bust open laughing and she runs, hissing, from the room. I thought it was hilarious.

I find them in the strangest places. I opened that cabinet and there they were just looking at me. Crawled in through the back.
They're always cuddling....

Awwwwe.

They do look cute together sharing a seat, don't they?

Updated pics of pixel (aged 10 weeks) - a couple of days after he arrived. You can see that he has made himself at home....

Here he is with his favourite toy (has to bat at the toys and pull them out through the holes):

And doing what he does best ... in fact, it's the only thing he seems to do besides eat & sleep... play play play!

Yeah, that's a one-in-a-million shot - he normally doesn't look so placid (I believe the correct scientific term is 'bat-f*ck-crazy').

Cass? Your kitties are so cute - are they the open-faced variety of persian (they don't look as schmooshed in the face as the normal variety)?

He looks like he could turn out to be a good-sized cat. How big do rag-dolls uaually get? About the same as any other average house-cat? Cuz from what I can see, his paws look pretty big.

They're the biggest domestic cat (bigger than a mainecoon). I think average size for a male ragdoll is about 15-20 pounds, but it's likely that this guy will be bigger cos the breeder assures me that he is big for his age (which is why we got him @ 10wks instead of 12wks).

Sorry Mari, more cuteness, but at least I warned you, huh?

Here he is, now 12 weeks - they grow so fast!

And this is what he NORMALLY looks like (in case you can't figure it out, he's about to pounce)
