Those sheep are so visually tactile - I feel like I can reach through the internet and through the drawings, and just feel the spongy softness of that thick ewe fur... Alas, I am clueless as to whom the artist is.

I was certain one or more of the English members of this board would know.

I wasn't sure, but I thought it looked like him.
You might be more likely to get this if I say I'm posting it because of association of ideas...

Damien Hirst is correct. And that's Raphael, isn't it - the School of Athens?

Yes, sun-star! Indeed, it is. Would you like to give us a new one?

Sun-star, what are we going to do? It has been days, and no one has even ventured a tentative guess. John Singer Sargent? Perhaps the style of lighting & colour here is actually too warm and shadowed for Sargent. I really am flummoxed here. Would you like to show us another example of this artist's work, so we can keep trying to guess?

Can you post us a new one to guess, sun-star? I was hoping you'd give us more examples of the artist's work, but anyway - would you like to post a new one to guess?

No, you go ahead. I'm back to a dial-up connection and can't easily use this thread anymore

Oh, what a bummer!! That's too bad!! I'm really going to miss you here. You're one of the only art-enthusiasts who likes to play here avec moi.

not a fan of neo-Classicism, Lotesse.... narrative driven work as well as heavily symbolic imagery executed with overindulged technical facility just doesn't do much for me... I've always seen it as a form of bourgeois pr0n, somehow
as for the name of the artist, I'm guessing it's inscribed on that metal tube on the young woman's back, eh?
