Ungoliant was a Maia, but I would not say that she was corrupted by Morgoth. Why I say this is because he asked her for aid in destroying the Two Trees and stealing the Silmarils. Then, when he refused to hand them over to her, she rose up against him to kill him, and was only saved by the Balrogs. That tells me that Ungoliant was independently evil.

Independently evil... yes, I would say so. I will have to reread that part in The Sil again to say whether she was originally corrupted by Melkor or not. But I will take your word for it as you are so knowledgeable.
