I think that must be inherit in grandfathers.........mine was a bleedin' loony behind the wheel as well :/ He drove fast and furious, his excuse was "I've always drove like this" to which his son (my dad) would answer.........."yes, but when you started driving there were hardly any other cars on the road, you've got to consider other drivers now" :/

Why would I do that? If they were nice - they would have been nice no matter where I was from.

Yeah, mine was a mad one allright - he once got pulled over for not coming to a dead stop at a stop street at night, so the spietcop (traffic officer) was leaning one knee on me gran'pa's bumper, writing a ticket. Oupa did his nut! Started yelling & screaming for Grandma to switch the car's lights off 'cos ''this pig will not write me a ticket by my own lights dammit!'' Then he started pulling ver all the other cars that didn't come to a dead stop - one big guy got out of his car & tried enquiring what the hell me grandad was doing & when Oupa explained he started helping him! Eventually they had pulled over about 20 drivers, all of whom were getting mughtily pissed off at the traffic cop! (He let them all go without so much as a warning - shame I think he needed counselling after that)

Yeah, both me grandads have passed on but one of me grans is still with us..........she's fighting fit at 80yrs (just before her birthday I asked her if she actually felt old, she said "not really, my mother was 102 when she died, so I reckon I'll be here for a while yet" I laughed and told her she'll prolly outlive me.......she winked at me and said "That's the plan kid! " )

Hehe - my granny thinks I'm off my rocker - I'm always offering to find her some eligible bachelor to while away her days with (she always requests that he should have money "'cos at my age I can't see what the hell he looks like, but I can still shop like a teenager" )....then she goes off on a laughing fit & starts yelling Stoppit K.......'tjie! (she calls me a diminutive of my actual name) - she's the best to tell dirty jokes to

(she swears & smokes like a trooper too - hell she even likes her brandy or Amarula every now & then.......I'll prolly end up like her )

My gran doesn't drink (far too many teatotallers in my family, takes me all my time to make up for them ) but she is a smoker.....when she was 76 she was gonna quit......after 60 yrs of smoking ) She's still smoking btw

Everyone says I'm the doulbe of me grandad, drinker, smoker we have the same wanderlust etc.............and neither of us takes/took anything seriously (he had the most amazing funeral I've ever seen 12 busloads of people and hundreds of cars.........the poor church was bursting at the seams when we'd finally packed everyone in )

Funny enough neither of my grandads did (well the one smoked), but I'm always being told 'You're your father's child' (well, what goddamit, would I be the milkman's? )

That's just the type of thing I want - beware the fool who dares to mope around when I'm no longer here - I swear if I catch one of my friends being miserable I'll make a point of haunting them (if of course I remember to do so through the drunken haze I intend to spend my hereafter in ) and I have a list of songs they absolutely have to play at my grave (including Led Zep - Stairway to Heaven of course )

That reminds me of a convo I had with my folks when I was a kid.........Sat at the dinner table I asked Mum why she picked my christian name........calm as you like, she told me that I was named after her boyfriend, the one she dumped so she could start courting me dad.............my poor dad, he nearly choked on a roast potatoe when he heard that

I used to have a semi-serious list of songs I want playing at my funeral.
These days I'll settle for the theme-tune to Thunderbirds

5.....4......3.......2.........1 Thunderbirds are Go!

*Coney descends into the flames to the Thuderbirds Fanfare*

Either that or the incidetal 30second music from the gameshow Countdown

LOL Me poor mum can't even tell people I was swapped a birth 'cos I was born in the only hospital of a really small town & I was the only child born there that day Though I never pass on an opportunity to kindly remind them that I'm bonkers because of the numerous times they ('specially me dad) dropped me on me head! (swear to god - one day when I was small he was lying on his back, holding me in his hands & swinging me above his head [ye know that whole 'airplane' game thing], when he swung back too far & hit my head against the coffee table and another time we were in the park, all on that iron 'horse' thing, where you can seat 5 kids in a row then pummel the thing like a seesaw type, anyway I was sitting right at the back & dad got a bit overenthusiastic, so I went flying from the back, right over all the other kids' heads & landed head first on the concrete - don't think my dad liked me much )

Hehe, the list also includes the theme song from McGyver for some reason

Nooit babe - most likely it would be that miserable woman going "You are the weakest link, thank you" to me

Khamul, my initial question is off topic, so I will post my on topic question afterward.

Off-topic--Would you close this thread if it stays off topic much longer? And, do you think the wrath of the Canadians and French-Canadians *cough:canucks:cough*would ensue?

On-topic--Khamul, would you rather live in Canada ( ) or the United States () and why.

Also, to anyone else.

If it got too far off-topic despite tries to get it back on-topic, yes, I would have to close it.

Here's the simplest reason why I would rather live in America (particularly the South) than Canada: it's too cold up there. I like cold weather, but not frigid weather like Canada.

Well hopefully some people can refrain from treating the message board as their own private chat utility.

I would rather live in the US. I don't want the high taxes, don't want to be living under the Queen and I don't need all the socialist programs. I've been to Canada - it's nice - but the politics don't line up to mine - so i wouldn't want to live there. Ontario is too much like the Midwest though - flat and pretty boring. The eastern island provinces (Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia) seem nice - but I haven't been there personally. British Columbia is like the American Northwest (Oregon and Washington). I don't really see much difference in the US and Canada landscape wise or anything. Quebec is the only province which is truly different from areas in the US - and that's because they don't want to be Canadian really. Just look at how they want to split off and be their own country (they still want Canada to fund their health care, highways, etc though)

He's from Alabama. His term of frigid is anything below 45 degrees farenheit. Frigid for me is below zero farenheit.

I know that on a hot day, I like to go stand around in a twenty-below freezer for a little while.
