Trying to combine the words 'ground' and 'walking' to make something similar to 'crawl':

Ground/floor-talan (I think the stem is talam-, but I'm not sure...)

Walk-lelya

May try talamlelya, though I don't know how much we can thrust it...

Can we? Is ml a valid consonant cluster?

I myself searched many wordlists and could not find crawl. Falagar beat me to it.

EDIT: lm is valid, but not ml. If you meant to type ln, that is not valid, nor is ln. Could we switch the two, or double the n, or something, because of nasal infixion?

And come to think of it, whether we are walking or crawling, we walk usually on the ground/floor. So would that combination of words really be all that articulate?

Could you give us the context, maybe that would help??

Actually, LuthienTinuviel is looking for the word. I thought I would help her out.

This is her thread that she started in The Sil.

Way to go, OrnelÃ*rë! Where did you find it?

hmmm... if I had to choose, I like ecar best... pronounced (I assume)... EH-kar (the 'a' like father). I'm wondering how it would sound in a sentence, though. If the previous word ends in a vowel and our 'or' word ends in a vowel... hmmm... maybe herca is better.

I found it in newwords at Elm (Alalme), but I think they're acceptable. You have no idea whatsoever how much I needed this word.
Let's test out the words in sentences!!
ecar, erca, erce, herca

Luin ecar laica melal?
Luin erca laica melal?
Luin erce laica melal?
Luin herca laica melal?

Ardalambiondesse ecar Elmesse i Quenya tunnel?
Ardalambiondesse erca Elmesse i Quenya tunnel?
Ardalambiondesse erce Elmesse i Quenya tunnel?
Ardalambiondesse herca Elmesse i Quenya tunnel?

Ok, think that's enough. So what word do you think that works best in, or should I make more sentences? I'd love to, I haven't a life...

hmmm... this is good. I like using the word herca when the preceding word ends in an 'e' but the erca sounds nice when the preceding word ends in a consonant. *is torn between them*

Why not both? I think it's a good idea.

Nán alassea- quen tence! A ná 'raica', nás 'ar'. A ná yárëa Quenyo. 'Quentelli' harya atta 'lambi' (2 L's).

Translation: We will find many threads/peoples here for the speaking of Quenya. Not many people here find for to make stories or sentences. this is ungoog for the thread. the thread will die. we will save it or it will die.

Correction: You said 'quete' for the gerund which is 'speaking', yes? Gerunds are formed by adding -ta, so it should be 'quetita'. Adding -ta also forms the extended infinitive. Therefore, 'quetita' also means in order to speak.

Ah... Hantanyel. Úhaiya ni mi Ardalambion.
I had to start over to make my notes on Quenya.
As far as I know, Ú- also means 'not'. so 'not good' instead of 'ungood'. lin- is the root for 'many'. However, linlië isn't allowed (that I know of) so the 'n' was changed to 'l'. Double L is allowed. But not 'nl'. So, it is 'many people'. I know that is confusing though.

Translation: On the contrary joy- somebody write(?)! 'A' is wrong, it is 'ar'. 'A' is olden Quenya. 'Sentences' possess two 'tongues'.

Er ná met mi lia. Tuluvalmë lië únótima an lia! Man sinomë tuluvalmë quetita lië? Manen tuluvalmë te hyá?

Yes, yes... only by Nan i meant I am. I am happy....etc.

Translation: Only are we in the thread. We will find people uncountable for the thread! Where in this place will we find speaking people? Where will we find others besides us?

No no no! A gerund is a noun form of a verb. Example: We liked the band's playing. Playing is a noun.
So quetita is wrong. how about: lie i quete? People that speak.

Hantanyel. Úhaiya ni mi Ardalambion
Trans: Thank you. Not far I (am) in Ardalambion.

Maybe we could find people who speak other Tolkien languages? We really need more people.

Not quite, it is: I do not have understanding of your last sentence. Understanding to me of your last sentence will you give? (anta= give, -lye=you; verbs go at end of sentence in questions)

Trans:As soon as I hope you speak it, you speak thus. The thread brings joy to me.
You are place (from beyond/intelligent/understanding)?

Hantanyel!

The last sentence in the post earlier was:
"my heart tells me that this thread shall die."

Ya rato nëa, quetel sin. I lia tulu alassë nin.

le ná nómë handonllo?

"Which soon may it be, you speak this. The thread make joy for me.

You is/are out of place of knowledge?"
I was trying to ask you if you were out of school, and I couldn't figure out a way to say it.

Mára ná i tuc-avatar. Lala antas nin, ar "Teen Girl Squad"! LOL!
