Into Great Silence

This movie is basically two hours and fourty-two minutes of silence and stillness. The description in this article doesn't come near to covering it, but . If you have a chance, see it. You'll be confused at first, you'll think it's strange, but if you give it a chance, it will blow your mind.

The Hitcher. That was freaky and I have to say it had more blood than the American Red Cross.

Today I watched Jabberwocky and Oh brother, where art thou?. I liked them both a lot: I was positively surprised by the latter one. It sounded interesting when I heard that it was partially based on The Odyssey, so I had to see it.. Jabberwocky was, of course, great too.

Pan's Labyrinth - Now that was an AWESOME movie. Plus, by a wierd stroke of fate, they had the director there after the showing! Yay, Guillermo del Toro!
I just saw Pan's Labyrinth, have to agree there. Easily one of the best movies ever. Disagree about Happy Feet though, thought it was well done. The message was more anti-dogma than anti-religion.

Also watched The Prestige, The Departed and Perfume not too long ago (The Prestige was great, The Departed good while a bit disappointing, and Perfume was a pretty mixed but all over enjoyable experience).

Firewall and Regarding Henry, enjoyable if not entirely original...Harrison Ford is awesome though, so how could they not be enjoyable?

Racing Stripes--Funny. Very funny. Of course watching a zebra race thoroughbreds looked funny to begin with.

Dragon Storm-- Fairly good, although i would think if a dragon threw a quill at you, one would duck instead of turning around and starting to run, hmm?

Gryphon-- Very interesting. Kept me hooked long enough to wonder what was going to happen next. Although I think they could have done a hell of a lot better on the gryphon. It looked more like a 2-D drawing than a 3-D gryphon.

A) As I recall, the main character had no religious inclinations, a la Kingdom of Heaven, while the bad guys did. That qualifies as anti-religion. But anyway, religion and dogma are more or less the same thing.

B) I approved of the environmental message, but there was way too much music for my taste and the same old misfit-who-finds-his-way story just bores me to tears, these days.

Seriously now, why did you go see Happy Feet? Of all the good/bad animated movies, that one surely ranks as one of the worst...

I didn't realize how dreadful it would be. I'm lucky though, the other people I went with aren't environmentally conscious, shall we say, so at least I got SOMETHING out of it.

Movies I've just seen..........hmmm. I just saw Little Miss Sunshine because it was requested by my teacher, and I saw Eragon the week before that. I wanted to see the one about Miss Potter, but it never came within a three hour drive of us. Irritating! Now we are going to have to wait for it to come out on video/DVD to watch it.

I defend the penguins! Who else has the sense to meve somewhere where you get to have al the friends of your kind in the world and all you have to do most of the time is either sit around leisurely or dive off iceburgs of slide around on your belly? I wish I could do that.
The dragon's in Eragon had pug noses and short necks. The reason for the short necks is because they could not get Eragon and Saphira's heads close enough to take a reasonablely close up picture. I can see the reasoning, but really!
