I'm confused about the movie thing. Maybe we shouldn't do it.

Gee, Nurv,
People are being so specific! My coming into existence date was late July or early August 1954 - but I can't be more specific 'cause my parents didn't discuss their sex life in that year or any year! but being an Ob/Gyn I can figure it fairly exactly within the limits of normal gestation et alia ! My birth date (NOT, you notice the same thing! ) was 13 April 1955. (They did discuss that fact !) The last count we had on my in theatre viewings of LOTR:FOTR was 13+ times and VHS seven and DVD (oh, geez) around 10 - reasonably 30 times at least. LOTR:TT probably 10 times in theatre, and at least that many on DVD (do I have to count extended versions separately, cause this is getting tough!?) LOTR:ROTK probably 5 times in theatre and 10 times on DVD (and eagerly awaiting the EE release, I must say!) Those numbers do not include the times I stumbled on the movies while operating the remote and couldn't help myself watching (I am as bad in this as JK Rowling reports for Narnia books; if it is in the room, it will be read! So me and LOTR!) Smoker, drinker of coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages from beer to Scotch; darned good cook, too, I might add Did I mention handsome, modest, AND humble?

Lizra,
I am amazed! A nice, domesticated swing babe such as yourself who attacks a doctor for smoking as though he carried a dread disease around in a bassinett? Really, your liberalism only extends to the air you breathe, right? Do you have any idea how much I go out of the way to NOT offend nonsmokers? And what do ya'll do, YOU BAN SMOKING. The very things you condemn in hetero vs homosexual marriage discussions - ban, discrimination, cultural attitudes, etc, etc! ! yes, only tobacco ( I feel one should stick to well quantified risks, you know ) By the way, you do know what happens to people who eat right, exercise regularly, do not smoke, do not drink, never prevaricate, always wear their seat belts, obey all warning labels on screwdrivers/plastic bags/power equipment, et cetera ad infinitum ad nauseum, don't you? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . THEY DIE ANYWAY, but they ususally can't tell when!

Geez! You know..... I don't live and breathe politics Inked! (Liberal/conservative) Is there a war going on or something?
It was a joke....toughen the skin boys! BUT.... smoking IS totally horrible ...and I would think that a doctor would follow his own good advice (I'm sure you tell your patients to wear seat belts, quit smoking, get yearly mamograms, and take a multiple vitamin...mine ob/gyn does...usually while he's feeling my breasts! another "true" joke.... ) I think smoking is worse than (light) drinking. I mean, If you only smoke five cigarettes a week, then the lecture is over.

Lizra,
I was joking! about the political stuff! NOT!!! Seriously, though, smoking's not that bad, quite enjoyable. It is a health issue too (but then so are sunbathing, sex without condoms, drug use by prescription, drug use by illicit means, scuba diving, sexual lifestyle choices, flouride in water, ...). Hey, I'm not only politically unpopular you know! I offend animal lovers by declaring them delicious!! I offend conservationists by favoring controlled burning and selective logging! So don't feel picked on Lizra! (hey, wait, this ISN'T the venting thread, is it?) PS Thanks JD! I needed that!
