"And we're back on M.O.O.T. with the Moots playing this Spice Girls tune in honour of my Mum on the Swedish Mother's Day..."

She used to be my only enemy and never let me free
Catching me in places that I know I shouldn't be
Every other day I crossed the line
I didn't mean to be so bad
I never thought you would
Become the friend I never had

Back then I didn't know why
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
All that you did was love
Mama I love you, mama I care
Mama I love you, mama my friend
My friend

I didn't want to hear it then but
I'm not ashamed to say it now
Every little thing you said and did was right for me
I had a lot of time to think about
About the way I used to be
Never had a sense of my responsibility

Back then I didn't know why
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
All that you did was love
Mama I love you, mama I care
Mama I love you, mama my friend,
My friend

But now I'm sure I know why
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
All I can give you is love
Mama I love you, mama I care
Mama I love you, mama my friend
My friend

Mama I love you, mama I care
Mama I love you, mama my friend
You're my friend

Mama I love you, mama I care
Mama I love you, mama my friend
You're my friend

Mama I love you, mama I care
Mama I love you, mama my friend
You're my friend

I was watching Ouran Host Club a while ago, and they mentioned something about how one of the characters has a hard time waking up because of low blood pressure. I'd never heard that before, but the way they made the joke about it it seemed like it was common knowledge.

I did a couple searches in both English and Japanese, and in Japanese I got a lot of results about the connection between low blood pressure and waking up. In the English results, there were mostly articles that talked about fluctuations in blood pressure at different times of day and articles about orthostatic hypotension.

I have fairly low blood pressure, and I have been wondering if that has anything to do with why I feel so horrible after naps (I also have a hard time waking up in the morning). I might be imagining it, because it becomes rather a convenient excuse, but I really feel like my circulation is not so good, especially after a nap. I've also had a lot of difficulty giving blood or plasma.

Not really looking for answers, I just thought it was interesting and thought I'd ponder out loud.

Hmm... waking up, or the act of getting out of bed?

I can sleep for hours and hours, but every morning I feel incredibly groggy and exhausted when I try to get out of bed... most mornings actually a little bit sick, like I'm coming down with a cold. My body will hurt, and I'll often have a headache. It only lasts for about five minutes once I'm on my feet and moving, but it can be very powerful.

So do you mean a hard time waking up like that, or do you mean that even after you get out of bed it takes you a very long time to 'finish' waking up and becoming alert?

Like I said... I have such a hard time with the actual 'getting moving' part, but once I'm out of bed I can be totally alert and even be driving within ten minutes. I know some people who need a lot longer before they get that alert.

If you're having trouble waking up because of circulation, you might want to seriously consider doing some self massage in the morning on your hands, feet, neck, and head. Some days to get myself moving I'll squeeze my arm starting at the wrist, doing quick squeezes moving up towards my shoulder. Maybe it's just some weird quirk, or maybe the 'exercise' of doing the squeezing, but that always feels like it makes my blood start pumping.

That's because we are brooding.

Just BECAUSE!!!! If you have to ask, you are CLEARLY not brooding!!!

I think she really means the low blood pressure.... but I could be mistaken. She is a mysterious woman of ambiguity.

Oops, I forgot there was another page to go and thought I was replying to TB's 'Where's everyone?'
But Tessar's suggestions will do.

In the morning, I mostly take a long time to get alert. But I do have issues with standing up a lot, sometimes when I first wake up sometimes not. I think that's what is orthostatic hypotension. When I stand up after I've been sitting for a while, my vision gets blurry (to the point where I can't see my hand in front of my face for a few seconds) and I get really dizzy. I have the hardest time with naps though. I get up and my legs especially just literally feel like the blood isn't flowing very well, and my head is fuzzy and I just feel generally bad. I think a lot of that has to do with sleeping too long (because I can't force myself to get up for hours) and sleeping where it's too hot. Also dehydration. But they say dehydration causes hypotension, so...?

I took my blood pressure at Meijers again today. It's usually in the 90s for the first one and the 60s for the second one, which is either the low end of normal or the high end of low.

EDIT: LOL Mari I like the blood pressure explanation

Epic Poem

The Epic of Jonathan and Hector
and Those Others Who Helped Defeat
The Balrog of Fangorn

A bright early morning on a certain day,
Was perfect for Hector's persecution.
The court gathered 'round all to say,
His sentence and method o' execution.

And they hurled the vilest lies a' him,
pretending to lay down the law,
But honesty knows t'was on a whim,
And shame on those who saw.

But Hec could take it not a moment more,
and challenged Jon to a deathly duel;
So they fought like warriors past of lore,
Which was actually pretty cool.

Hector with his blade of purest light,
Made his foe a sting to feel;
Jonathan in turn was strong with might,
With blade of mithril-steel.

But as they fought over the chasm deep,
There arose a great and ancient terror;
A balrog risen from a slumb'ring sleep,
They had waken'd by some foolish error.

And now the giant, ugly, demon he,
Raised his whip above his head;
It waved in th'air for all to see,
Down it crashed, and widely spread.

And fright was in all the hearts
Of those who stood to witness thus,
Such a beast of such ghastly parts,
With head and horns and muchly plus.

Jonathan, Hector, and all the rest
Of Entmoot's bravest drew their arms:
And with them did their very best
To stop the giant balrog's harms.

Acally, president o' the Moot,
at the head with steel-toed boot;
Varnafinde, archer quick of eye,
Shot an arrow to the balrog's breast,
And quite on target, nothing shy,
It hit him square i' the chest.
Gwaimir, lord of the eagles,
Mari with her loopy lasso,
Sane with her hunting beagles,
and Tessar the mighty basso;
Insidious with daggers furtive,
Troll's Bane's atlatl 'ssertive;
Coffeehouse, the overseer,
Valandil with his valiant crew,
Inked with his draughty beer
Earniel, Midge, and Noble too;
All these warriors at the front,
Hurling weapons, sharp and blunt.

And with a mighty crash to the earth,
The balrog fell hard onto his bum,
And the fighters gave him dearth
of beatings more, and thenly some.

So the balrog was defeated there and then,
and now lies a large lump on the forest floor.
And the birds now rest on it in that glen,
leaving lovely off'rings, much to store.

The heroes of it all, they still stand,
And if you go to central Entmoot-Town
Two statues there are placed and grand:
Both on horse with cape and crown.

I'm pretty sure epic poems don't rhyme.

No, old epic poems don't rhyme. Tennyson and Scott epic poems do

So, you prefer to keep company with Alfred, Lord Tennyson than with Vergil and Milton. I see.

You then forgot to mention the archers at the back (Varna being one of them).

*wonders whether she should take offense*

This does sound rather like classical epic poems; reminds me of circumspect Penelope, ox-eyed Hera, and pious Aeneas.

I just realized that when I visit New York next week, I'm going to be like two blocks from Smokey Mary's, the most famous Anglo-Catholic church in the States! I'll have to visit them.

I love the poem, Hector! So elaborate, so eloquent, so descriptive, so spot-on! And it's too rarely that I get to be mentioned in epic poetry You should post it in the Writer's Workshop as well!

(Of course, the second verse slanderously implies an unlawfulness of this board's judiciary system. I resent it; the Entmoot court is not a moot court )

Is it possible to pull a sickie when you have a day off? >_<

Katya, I do like Ouran Housto-bu. Pitty they had to try and throw a story in at the end. Did you by the way ever see Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge? I saw it as anime, but there's a dorama out now too. The dorama is different enough to warrant watching both.
