I think they were running shoes. I wore them till they literally fell apart. And then I still wore them occasionally for paintball or running - didn't matter if they were further ruined

Was the butterfly dead? I don't think I understand the title...

Oh, aha Glad I didn't misunderstand it that much.

NB: the first pic reminds me of my beloved, late Venus Fly Trap. I miss my fly trap!

Is that after the storm pic a picture from after that freaky black cloud storm? I saw a video of that cloud approaching at high speed. Really freaky.

more!

we took a boat out to one of the islands in the nature reserve one night.. there's a cottage there, and it being a nature reserve protected for research, no one else is allowed to come to the island. it's a nice way to isolate oneself for a while.
we were there to work, too, though..

a dragonfly visited us at lunch when we were out kayaking.

one of the coolest roundabouts in tivoli amusement park, copenhagen.

almost abandoned.

I love the dragonfly! You see them often enough, but this is the first time I actually got to study them.

Sympetrum, I'm pretty sure. But which specifically is a bit tougher to discover. They're rather alike and the differences often depend on really fiddly details. Sympetrum striolatum or Sympetrum vulgatum seem a good bet, although it could be another related species still. Both can be found in South-Scandinavia according to my book.

Males are generally easier to identify, they're red or red-black, and the females are yellow or yellow-brownish like this one. I suspect by the contrast in her eyes that she may be a recently hatched female, which I'm told is even more difficult to identify with certainty when I put a similar photo before the experts at the local wildlife photography forum.

(I'm not using the latin names to show off, but I doubt anyone'd find the Dutch names useful, and you can find the correct name in your own language easier with the latin ones than the Dutch or English.)
