Again, welcome to Entmoot Maitimo!

What a great literature teacher. I'm impressed the teacher not only had read the Silmarillion but seemed to remember so much from it. Must have been a true Tolkien fan.

Tolkien thought the Finnish language was very beautiful. Maybe that influenced him to give Maedhros the name Maitimo too. Maitimo means "well-shaped one" in Quenya.

Ñolendil posted this post long ago in the thread Valar's love for the Eldar:

Neylafinwe = "Third Finwe (in succession)". The first "Finwe" being Finwe, the second Finwe being Curufinwe (Feanor), and the son of the second Finwe being Maedhros.

Maitimo = "Well shaped (one)". He was of exceptional bodily form, even for an Elf (a real catch, ladies and gentlemen, if you ignore the unfortunate business of his bleak fate and treacherous oath).

Russandol = "Copper top". Maedhros had the red-brown hair of his mother's family.

"Maedhros" is an adaptation of "Maitimo" and "Russandol" into Sindarin.

Welcome, welcome, fellow Feanorian! Can we get a nickname for you; would that be O.K. like - Nelya, or Maitimo, 'cause your username is very long. You sound like an extremely interesting person; a hearty welcome to Entmoot to you from Very Bad Lotsy!! Nice to get some new blood around here, especially that of the House of Feanor.

Hee. Good ol' Aruman. To tell you the truth, I feel much the same way, although realistically speaking, I suspect my preference for Bakshi is due to nostalgia; I grew up watching it!

Now, since it's actually from Quenya . . .

My dear Eärniel! Ah, see, my current fandom has aggravated me. I've come to take shelter here. Nostalgia called me back when I was remembering my days of actually having a much better time at this forum than at my current Livejournal.

I have to come back to Western fandom for a breath of fresh air, I suppose.

What is your current fandom then, these days?

Our Tolkien forums are a bit on the quiet side these days, but GM is very lively.

Welcome back Sween! Haha, what a day. Two oldbies return to Entmoot on at the same time!

Congrats on having a computer again So how have you been? How's the family? How old is your kid now?

Hehe, your not the first returning mooter to ask about JD . However JD's no longer around, he left Entmoot a while back.

My current fandom is Japanese rock, and the American fans have become very trying lately. The number of stuck-up people amazes me.

Oh, I imagine it'd be quiet. The movies having ended and all. Which kind of makes me sad, though I figured that would happen.

Sween! We must be on the same wavelength to show up again at the same time. Oddness.

JD is gone? Well, I left Entmoot. I suppose he would've left at some point, too.
