Me too! The last time I dueled was when Sane and I discovered the crude oil spring in front of the Teacup.

Woohoo! Free Nietzsche bookmark! How predictable, btw, that I should choose it over the other non-Nietzsche choices.

One time, he was walking down the streets of Turin (this is actually the event that sparked his quick decline in health) and across the street, he saw a horse that was being beaten by its owner. He ran across the street (through oncoming traffic, presumably), and threw his arms around the horse's neck, and, sobbing, said to the owner: "You must stop." Would you see that fiend Ayn Rand doing that? I think not.

Aww, I like that story. I would probably do the same. I don't much appreciate animal cruelty.

1. he rescinded his views, or 2. he was already insane. Two is of course quite likely, as the official ending to this story is that he fainted immediately, and after that was never the same again. However, one I don't believe for an instant, as it's a tactic often used by people who disagree with a person's views and/or don't quite understand them (for example, the untrue rumor that Darwin renounced his theory on his deathbed). I think, from my research of Nietzsche, that he wasn't as much of an immoralist as he thought, and that a Dionysian is capable of being perfectly moral even with his rejection of "slave morality" and embracing of "master morality." I suppose it's all a matter of interpretation and definition; I freely admit that my interpretation of the connection between Dionysian morality and Marxism, for instance, is diametrically opposite that of Nietzsche.

Yeah, N. was such a nice guy that one can almost forgive all the folks who took his talk about power to incorrectly. Like Volde in novels and Stalin and Hitler and Amin in life!
Of course, those dead by adherents of his philosophy, well, that's just so heartbreaking I think I'll save a horse or a whale or a fetus, maybe.

So tonight I was washing my face, and I got some of my face wash in my mouth by accident because I opened my mouth to take a breath when I was scrubbing my nose. The wash has those little microbead scrubby things in it, and it tasted nasty AND gritted between my teeth when I tried to spit it out.
Sad day. I need some tea to get that taste out of my mouth! |
