"Alright, that should be good." A servant came over and bowed to us. I had to laugh. Someone bowing to ME?!?
The servent looked at me. "I am sorry, I just think it funny for some one to bow to me. You need not to, I dont really mind if you dont." I smiled, it was the only thing I really COULD do. I knew not the rules of this house, nor many of the people inside.

Ellewen stared at Star for a few moments longer, this apologized and ran off. "I understand, Star," I said. "The thing is -- and promise, I didn't tell them this -- but somehow, the servants in that castle have learned that you and I are blood kin."

I raised an eyebrow and just kinda looked at her. "How can that be? Us being kin, blood at that. I am from Mundane Earth, you are from Middle. Ok, now I'm confused. And how did you know, er, find out?"

I had forgotten that Faith and I never told Star about this.

"You already know people have sometimes crossed from Middle Earth into Mundane, or vice versa. Apparently your mother did that, and married a Mundane Earther. And then she never returned to Middle Earth. Star, your mother is my mother's younger sister. Half-elven. And that's why you had my ... our grandmother's pendant, Star."

"Faith told me you were my kin (she said the wind told her), and from there, finding out exactly HOW we were related was a matter of searching through past history. There aren't that many people who went to Mundane Earth; even fewer who did not return to this world."

"So," I sighed, "to the people of this kingdom, since you are the closest of my family -- other than Mauluk, who is banned from this kingdom and cannot inherit the throne -- you are the heroine, Princess Starlight. I'm sorry; I know you don't like formalities. I'll try to convince them to be somewhat less formal ... but with some of them, I'm still working on getting them to be less formal with me."

I blinked and couldn't say anything. "Well, no wonder Mum never liked family reunions. Andodulin called me that, Princess that is. But I dont think for the same reson, more to persuade me. Formalitys are ok if you absolutly cannot convince them, I can understand. After being called "Lady" for the past 5 years, I think I am use to it." I smiled. I hadnt known anyone from my mother's side of the family, let alone knew where they lived. 'Here and there' She'd always say. Now I felt more out of place than ever here.

I laughed at Star's comments about family reunions. "Come on, Star. How many people have you known who like family reunions, when it's not their own family? I didn't like the family reunion I had to go to in Mundane Earth, even though I thought they were my real family. Andodulin called you a princess? It is possible he knew something; he would've heard the rumors, after all. But I believe he would have tried just about anything to persuade you to join him. It's good you had the wisdom not to. But..." I paused. "Why you, and not Starletta?"

I shrugged. "Perhaps she was next, though I dont think so. I really dont know, Perhaps she was too protected here? Or was she here the whole time?" I stopped. "Morier. Those two go together like Bubble Gum and Hair, they just stick. Perhaps he has something to do with it?"

"I wouldn't be a bit surprised," I said. "It's too bad we can't ask Andodulin about it. Or ... we could, but it wouldn't be a good idea. If I only knew more of the bird language, I'd ask Linde. Right now, I only know the words for 'stop,' 'no,' and fear. That's useful when Linde wants to give me a warning, but otherwise, it doesn't help us much."

And that is one of the only things it is good for. You had mentioned something about you thinking Linde had some connection with Lubyla. Perhaps if she did, Line would know this, and might be useful to yes or know questions.Just a thought."

I smiled at Star. "You're right! Thank you, Star! In Linde's case, a "yes" answer would just be a matter of not saying 'no!' I think she can understand me. Now I feel foolish. I had five years to figure that out, but I didn't."

"Now, Linde," I said, addressing the white bird, "you can understand us, right? If you can, please, ah, sing." This was something that Linde sometimes did on her own, though not often. It was probably a relatively good indication of whether or not she could understand.

Linde whistled a birdsong, looking very happy that someone had thought to ask her questions we could understand the answers to.

"Linde, is Morier still involved in the plot against the Writewraiths?" I knew what the answer to that one was likely to be, but I had to know for certain.

Linde looked at her, and bobbed her head up and down, and mummbled something like a really fast 'Stop! Be-- o" and flew up to the top rafters.

"Princess Nydassi, its a pleasure to see you here alive."

"I can't say the same for you." I fingered the hilt of my sword. I wouldn't use it, not with Calien...Empress around me, and the current situation, but I knew how to scare him.

I thought for a moment about how to get Andodulin away from Star and me for awhile. It wouldn't really exclude any of my friends, either, since Hunter and the Kin were not planning on coming to dinner tonight, and Lily Brandybuck had already eaten dinner. And supper. At that moment, Lily was munching on an early evening snack. Terwell had taken a liking to Will Bennet, and wanted to give him a tour. That could be done while some of us ate.

"Tonight those who met me in Mundane Earth -- in person or on the internet -- and traveled to the Kingdom of Writewraiths with me, will have a private dinner together in the Small Dining Room, and have a reunion," I declared. "Star, Adrian, and Calliman, come with me. Since Starletta is Star's Middle Earth twin, she may come as well."

Fimbren's fingers finally figure out the lock and he snapped it open. Then he went down a long staircase, his elven eyes and ears searching. He heard some noises coming from a large room and heard the word "Princess". Fimbren pulled the hidden knife from his belt, if there was a princess in danger it was his job to protect her, even if he didn't know where he was.

I was happy when she said this, knowing she was trying to protect me from Andodulin. But why was he after me, and not Starletta? Ghuy I had a lot to think about. I followed Calien, and Linde flew down to us, glaring at Andodulin it shifted and flew out the window.

Fimbren burst into the room and saw several females standing and staring at him. The one whom he had heard call Lubyla jumped back in shock.

I looked at the elf who had just burst into the room with interest. Clearly, he wasn't from Mundane Earth; he knew too much about this world, and though he had a very dazed look, it wasn't quite the same incredulous look I usually saw on the faces of Mundane Earthers, when they came here.

He had drawn his knife, but now the elf seemed more bewildered than anything else. So, while he could be an enemy, I believed that he was not.

"Hello. I am Empress Calien, of the Kingdom of Writewraiths. What is your name, and your purpose here?"

It looked like I had jumped, ok so I did a little, but mostly because when reaching for my dagger in my sock, my hand slipped and I cut my ankle. I let out a cry in anguish, and started hopping around, now having taken the dagger out of my sock. "Curses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Stupid dagger, last time I leave it in my sock." I had to laugh. I was stupid enough to put it there in a rush, based off my character Serenity. Guess in the real Middle Earth, it doesn't work very well.

"It's not a good idea," I agreed, "unless of course you have special socks so the dagger can't slip and cut you."

A servant came running up to Star with some water, and she washed her cut, saying it was fairly minor (though it hurt!) and shouldn't need treatment.

I sighed. "All right. Let's go to dinner before anything else happens. Aethon, please show our newcomer around." In the process, Aethon would find out what the elf was doing here.

Aethon shifted into human form. "Yes, m'lady." He walked off, the elf at his side.

Star and I grinned at each other, then strolled into the Small Dining Room. Adrian and Calliman were waiting for us there.
