Ahhhh, you've jogged my memory.......Ori did have the large writing and he wrote the last of the tale. Loni fell with one other defending the bridge and the second hall.

After that, the logical thing would be to admit you are correct.

I now await for your trivia question.

When did Frodo officially become Bilbo's heir?

Actually that's what the Hobbits called "coming of age" and isn't the answer to my question.
It shows you know your Hobbit, so keep checking. I'm relaxing and taking care of whatever it is I've been fighting for the past week by resting and OTC meds.
....so I'll be in my pj's and laying about...gotta stay off the board the rest of the day as I'm light headed....ok, no wise remarks please...

Gollum

Then, it would (officially, anyway,) be the day Bilbo signed his new will which bypassed Otho. Date, date... hmmm...

Not sure on dates. But when Bilbo adopted Frodo and took him in.

well a more specific answer might yield a positive response from the questioner

How is that for a specific answer?

(Just Kidding)
How about:
22-September-3001 Third Age

That's the date of Bilbo's farewell party and when he turned over Bag End to him. It's not the date which the question seeks. Re-read the question, post 203 and perhaps it will fall into place.

2989 Third Age

Nine years after the death of Frodo's parents.

I do not think I can get any more exact. JRRT probably could though.

to quote "Mr. Grace" you've all done very well" but not found the answer sought and the one in the book. It's there, honest it is.

I will guess
2989-September-22

Still looking if I find a better answer. (Being done without access to a book)

I used the book for the question, so without being a super being it may be too difficult to answer. Of course we do have some of those on the board I'll give it until the end of day and then if no one gets it, pass the next question on to someone else.

Inheritance is not exactly the same as heir.

Good try though.
