Mari! I'm glad to see that you're still around.

I've been better, but I've also been worse. .
I'm still working on a Marine Biology degree, but I'm behind now. I had to leave college for a couple years, but I'm back now. I should have a BS in a couple of years, then it's on to get my Masters and eventually a Ph.D. I'll be moving about 600 miles from home in the fall to go to school, so that's big news.

Thesis, huh? What are you writing it on?

Wow, a PhD even! That's so cool. I hope you can get there uneventfully. Unless the events are positive of course.
600 miles huh? That's quite far! How many timezones? Fortunately there is such a thing as skype. Saved my life in Japan

Let's not mention that odious thing otherwise referred to as 'thesis'. I detest things otherwise referred to as 'thesis'. It does have a nickname, but I'm not quite sure it would pass the filter on this forum...

Possibly. If you did, I missed it, though. I'm sure I'd remember it had I seen it before today.

Thank you, well enough. Waiting for my first own (rented) apartment, and the design school to begin.

Don't you guys hate it when you wake up on a busy morning, later than you meant to, and you check your e-mail and you have a bazillion new emails (on this particular morning I had something like 30).... and then you have those days where you don't check your e-mail at all for 24-48 hours, and so you finally sit down to check it and you have one new e-mail?

Fortunately it's only one time zone, because it's almost directly south. And thank you for the well wishes! They are appreciated. And I have a feeling that I'm going to be using Skype quite a lot.

Guess it's pretty general stuff first year, then we can specialize. I'd so wanna do jewelry...

Bloody rain... we've had many thunder storms here recently. I just stopped playing a Lotr-game (left Faramir and few archers in Osgiliath ), and switched to internet, in case I have to shut the com quickly.

We've got sun and 26-28 degrees C outside. It's supposed to go up to 34 degrees on Tuesday. I have to go on a long trip by train that day I am so doomed.

I'm excited for you! Hopefully you will be able to do exactly what you want.

Similar weather here as well. The whole world is drowning.

Where I'm going to school it's hot like that year round. But it's on the coast, so it's okay.

I'm guessing the train system isn't known for its air conditioning? I've only travelled by train once, and it was in Illinois in February and as far as the temperature goes it was fine. But not in any other way...

Good luck, though. Hopefully it won't be so bad.

Trains are generally okay... IF they are long distance trains. For shorter distances older trains are used and the only air-conditioning those have is a few small open windows Plus, the seats are made of sticky fake plastic leather, so in hot weather you just stick to it, yuck.

Wouldn't I be a bit too lucky to be able to do that?

Hope they'll do something about it soon. Lest we will drown.

No, I don't think so. In my experience, being fortunate has never had alot to do with my success, it's how hard I was willing to push to get what I wanted. Push yourself hard enough, and you will be rewarded for it.

Those trains sound very much like our school buses.

Sorry Nauti, I'm too cynical to believe that. Bad things can always happen. Also, I'm not in a condition to push myself much.

Aye. And build airships.
