*crushing waves of jealousy*

Argggh! Italy! I want to go so much! And drink Chianti all the time! But seriously, I am so jealous of you, Tess. I absolutely have to go to Italy at some point. My family's talking of vacationing there in a couple of years, and I'm really, really looking forward to it. Any idea what cities you'll be going to? Rome and Venice are the biggest on my list; they're basically tied.

Oh, if you have time to upload pics, please do! I'd love to see them.

And yay on the good news ^_^

My happy news: I'm getting my pay (finally) after 3 months. Someone finally looked in to it and it was taken care off in half an hour! Why couldn't they have listened to me earlier? >_<
AND I get to cook tonight! It's been a while since my family doesn't like my cooking (too exotic sometimes) and since I don't want to cook exactly the way my mum cooks. But now the folks are out of the house and my sister doesn't mind letting me cook, so...

I have decided that instead of being tired and frustrated, I'm going to enjoy the fact that I'm in high demand today .

Wednesdays are my difficult days, because I have school, then I teach piano, then I have to go sing with the choir... and tonight we've got two REALLY hard pieces. The untrained members of the choir are about 90% unable to sing either piece... And even the trained ones are struggling a little.

But I keep reminding myself that there's nothing else in the world I would rather be doing... and it's true .

... okay, except sleeping. I would much rather be sleeping. But OTHER than that... nothing else .

Of course you are in high demand. You are just awesome like that!

I'm drooling over cars now. AND I'm not even procrastinating either, all my work is done, just have to make some form scripts for tommorow!

I got eight full, uninterrupted hours of sleep last night. *sniffles* It was glorious .

Plus it made the weird chest discomfort go away. Two days ago I started feeling awkward whenever I took a deep breath, and then yesterday it was sort of painful for a while... which meant singing was difficult. I figured it was probably a lack of sleep, and maybe I was right.

Today is a happy day
I also got to pick up more meds for another 30 days. After those 30 days we'll see if they work or if the dosage of hormones need to be upped/reduced. ^_^

A was woken up to nice music and breakfast in bed this morning.. For a second, I almost thought I had died - until I remembered that I don't believe in paradise. But just for a short moment, it was there.

Teehee, prepare for shameless bragging: I just got an A+ for my English test (no mistakes at all).
Now I do not have to show up in class anymore, woohoo!

Well, some interesting, happy developments.

I was planning to wait till the end of the semester to ask my voice teacher, but the subject naturally came up during our voice lesson yesterday so I went ahead and asked him if he thinks I have the potential to be make a living as a professional singer.

Short answer: Yes.

I told him that I want to get my undergrad in music education (because I think it's smart to have a fall-back... particularly if you love your fall-back ), but that I was considering getting a masters in vocal performance because I really, really want to be a professional singer before I teach.

The thing about my voice teacher is that he's very blunt. Like last semester he told one girl she needed to change her major because she didn't have the dedication to be a professional singer, and I know he's kicked people out of his studio before if he doesn't think they have potential.

What he basically said is that for someone with my voice and my ability, he would strongly encourage them to get a masters in performance because he thinks there's a very, very good possibility that I'll end up with a marketable voice.

Then he went on to say that he's been very surprised that I've made the progress that I have in less than a year, and he didn't expect me to be singing like I am right now for another year or two based on what he heard when I was under my last teacher. He said he was very proud of me, and that if my voice keeps progressing like it is right now that I should have no problem getting into grad schools.

So that's really exciting... it's what I wanted to hear, but at the same time it's really scary. I was actually expecting him to say that I would be much better off just taking a teaching position, since I have an okay voice but it's not really 'amazing'.

But he seems to think that I have the vocal ability, the attitude, and the dedication needed to have a shot at making a career out of singing.

Even my parents are being really supportive. I told them that I think I want to perform instead of teaching right away, and my parents just nodded like it was the most logical thing in the world and said, "Well yeah, you definitely want to see how far you can go, with your dedication and personality."

Heck, even the grumpy old choir master who yells at me half the time he's speaking to me keeps telling me I've got a lot of potential. He says he yells because he cares .

It's just weird. Exciting, too.

We'll see what happens. I'm just so grateful that my family's being supportive of the idea, and that I have people (namely my voice teacher and the choir master) who are pushing me hard to see how far I can go.

I definitely want it badly... I just hope it works out.

Ah, endocrinology. Perhaps you've said it already but what meds are you taking (if you don't mind telling)? The adjustment after 30 days makes me suspect thyroid hormones.

I hope the hormones do their work and that you feel good!
