I think you want the "star wars funnys" thread in the star wars forum, not the classical music thread in the Entertainment forum...

Ligeti: You don't appreciate new music, obviously.

Hector: Now that is just rubbish. I like Tavener's "Protecting Veil" a lot.

Ligeti: Yeah but you obviously aren't appreciative of new ideas, like mine.

Hector: What's so new about your ideas? People have been coughing and shrieking ever since God put 'em on the earth...

Ligeti: But my music is supposed to be like that, it's SUPPOSED to be absurd and funny...

Hector: Well you're obviously selling under the wrong genre. You ought to be selling under Comedy Album.

Hahaha. Taveners "new" music is really "old," and you know it.

True, he uses gregorian chant models etc... But Ligeti was trying to say I didn't like any contemporary music...he's a sly one.
Did you listen to the samples?

WTF? This is happening to me increasingly often... I'd normally say it's because I leave the computer to go eat and then forget where I was, but I think it's more likely that Entmoot makes me shift pages. I think some benevolant ID theif has stolen my Stardust account and has been boosting my score, while playing a few well-meaning jokes on me here.
Whatever the case may be, I'm not absent minded enough to just post that in the wrong thread.

Anyway...
I don't get why people always associate the Toccata with "funeral music". That's worse than people associating Rhapsody in Blue with United Airlines.

Anyways, you didn't mean John TAVERNER, did you?

And you would be right: John Taverner is a way older composer...

Ligeti: Laughter is supposed to be music too.

Hector: Laughter of the gods maybe, not the cackling demons of hell.

Ligeti: I think you're afraid of new music.

Hector: Of yours; it'd make even Rob Zombie jump the bluff!

Ligeti: I'm going now...I just thought up another piece of music...

Hector:...remember to flush, please.

But to get into the actual components, it is made up of human "sounds", such as grunts shrieks and evil laughs. Kind of like a cappela from hell. It scared me to death last night...it's plain demonic. Don't believe me?

Clara S's Piano Concerto, eh? I've been meaning to look into it...not exactly commonly found though, is it?

Allow me to encourage listening to this...don't be put off by it's combination of deep languour...I would say it's on a level with listening to Shostakovich's Eighth all the way through...a little tough, but not without reward.

Nice I don't actually have that issue (September, right?). We started my college subscription a few days after the deadline to start with September. The library probably has it though, I should check.
