No, Ferny charged them three times' the pony's worth for Bill the Pony; as for how much Butterbeer gave the hobbits to recompense for their own ponies' running off, can't remember...

wow, that IS a good point, you guys; that's a trip! I never thought of that... I wouldn't be surprised if Tolkien intentionally created that correlation.

Wait - is Loni the dwarf with the nice handwriting who died while making an entry in the journal about the drums in the deep, when the remaining resistance of dwarves were in that room where Balin had his tomb, in Moria? *phew*
