Just got to Act V today in class, a great scene with Billy Crystal (imagine that...Crystal and Shakespeare! ), where he played one of the gravediggers.

The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines Great movie! Sort of like a modern Indiana Jones. Makes me want to see The Librarian (the prequel).

Deja Vu. Great! I don't care what anyone says: It's a very well put together movie. Good acting, good writing, good editing. The whole thing is a slow boil: the first ten minutes are almost slow-motion, and by the end you're on the edge of your seat. An interesting twist on a car-chase, too, although it does seem like every movie of this genre just has to have a car-chase... Denzel was a lot more interesting and original than he's been lately, as well.

Wet Hot American Summer. Funny, but not great.
Troy. I didn't like the movie as the whole, but I approved of some things, such as the depiction of the Hector/Paris dynamic. The Bishop's Wife. Interesting, cute, but ultimately not that great. Thumb Wars was funny, though not really a movie.

Les Choristes. Superb film. Great story, interesting characters, beautiful music, and (appropriately) ugly background. "Two thumbs up!" in Ebert and Roeper-ese.

Superman Returns. Better than I anticipated, but Lois Lane got on my nerves....

Peregrin, is that Elf movie the one with Will Ferrell? I love that movie! Hilarious; I thought; 'course I think Will Ferrell is the bomb. He always cracks me up. I loved his movie Anchorman, another great comedy.
Giant - that was an amazing film, really great stuff. Just watched it two times in a row over the last couple days, with my boyfriend. Directed by George Stevens, starring Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, Rock Hudson, Dennis Hopper - a very long movie, like three-and-a-half hourse long, but you won't be bored. Excellent classic, this... It's so cool to see the young Dennis Hopper, too. They were all so young in this one. Rock Hudson was 28, Dean 23, Taylor 23 or 24, Hopper must've been like 19.

I think the word "inappropriate" is absolutely hilarious. Seriously! What does "inappropriate" really even mean? Not appropriate - but why? Ah, well, never mind, don't listen to me...I just always thought that word was funny. For real! I'm weird that way.
Watching a documentary about Napoleon tonight. It's very interesting. I love Napoleon.

Admittedly, 'appropriate' is really a matter of point-of-view in most cases...
The Island. Pretty good, but a little too much in the way of 'special-effect-bonanza'. Just lots of unneeded and--inappropriate ( ) --explosions. I liked Ewan McGregor playing two different roles in the same film. It worked really well. btw, Lotesse, I love your sig. I use that quote all the time!

Men in Black - Oh. My. Gosh. So cool!!! I love the memory eraser thingy! Makes me want to see the second Men in Black movie.
The Mask of Zorro - I finally saw the first Zorro movie and loved it! Quite a few funny parts too, especially the part where Elena is in confession.

VERY good... interesting study of how some can get wrapped up in a (demanding, all-encompassing) job! Lots of surprises... probably not what you'll expect! (unless maybe you'd read the book - which I had not. there's a book?)

We just saw "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" over the weekend - and were very disappointed.
Great concept, lousy execution. As if the idea of someone dating - and then breaking up with - a super-heroine wasn't enough... the guy seemed like a total jerk anyway and they tossed in a REAL loser for his best friend. I thought interplay with more normal people would have been more interesting. After all - there was this contrast with "G-Girl" anyway.
