I hate to break it to you, mister, but I'm not having any kids, so you can nab that in the bud... Oh, and get your mind out of the gutter.

Mmmmm...? Something suitably insulting, and enough to give them an inferiority complex for life...! "Arwen" heh heh heh.... "Legolas" *insane giggle* Oh, I can just imagine the playground fights now...

Brutis: "Aaarr!!! Gimme thine pencil!!"
Arwen: "If you want it, come and claim it." Arwen is a boy, thus the more embarrassing. |

*glares at the evil people* Poor Legolas. *sniff*
I'm naming my non-existent, not-even-theoretical twins Telperion and Laurelin.

My computer's name is Mordor. Sometimes I do think it's evil when it downloads slow If I had a daughter, her middle name would be Luthien. A son would be Durin.

Sorry, but i think naming your kids after their parents' literary obsessions is unfair. I'm sure we all know people named after weird novels of decades ago . . .
Reminds me of the children I knew named Rye and Rain, and baby Eleven (cause he had eleven fingers). |

Maybe a better way of saying it would not be that the child is named after the character, but that the name is a nice one, and so a nice one to name one's child.
My husband was named after an author with an unusual spelling of a common name, and he always disliked it. Hmm, that Eleven is pretty tacky! |

Well...
You do realise that any kid named Legolas will have to go through life with the nickname Leg'o'Lamb, don't you?
Although while I'm on the subject, I totally plan to name my daughter Varda. Such a cool name, and most people won't realise it's from the book anyway, because most of the people I mix with haven't read the Silmarillion. Therefore should save theoretical child much embarassment. I hope, anyway. So, who's gonna name their son Gondor? ~Fae

Have heard some v. bad stories about palantir relationships. Should probably cool it for a while. Well, wouldn't you know, palantir guy turned out to be Dark Lord of Mordor. Just my luck. Could have been worse, I guess. Sauron not far or hairy, just disembodied force of evil. Must go now, have to raise massive demon army to scourge the earth. Also, have manicure appointment. Is no easy task keeping nails pointy. Am tired of climbing up and down eight million stairs just to taunt Gandalf. Should have imprisoned him in easy-access dungeon where could taunt more effectively, and would not have to wait until after breakfast. Have crossed orcs with goblin men in caverns below Isengard. V. tedious experience as orcs and goblin men most reluctant to breed, even with dinner and flowers. Next time will try something easier, such as breeding goblins and cheerleaders to create super-perky army that can travel by day and will not complain about pink uniforms. Did not know when decided to make demon army for Sauron that would be so darn messy. Curse my decision to be Saruman the White. Should have decided to be Saruman the Muddy Brown, or Saruman the Faintly Greenish. White just shows all the slime. |

I have a friend whose name is Theodin, and his siblings names are Galadriel, Elrond, and Arwen. He has a niece named Lorien, too I think.
I hadn't planned on naming any of my children after Tolkein characters. (I have a hard time finding girls names I like for some reason.) But strange names aren't different for me. If I have twin boys I'm naming them Jaken and Boaz after the pillars in the temple. If I had two sets of twin boys, I'd name the second pair Aragorn and Legolas. That would be cute. I like the name Estel, too, but I would probably use that for a girl.

I think I'll create an elvish name that means something cool but sounds plausible.
