Episode 7: The Force Awakens
Without giving spoilers, anyone seen it?
A couple attempts to connect on it with friends in Chicago didn't work out. So the boys and I will probably see it the day after Christmas. Facebook posts by friends all praise it. That's a good thing, as I have not thought highly of about the last four.

Just saw it. Very good. In my opinion, the best Star Wars movie yet.

I was actually impressed at the lack of spoilers I was exposed to, considering some of the major plot points that occurred in the movie.
My husband and I chuckled at how "emo" Kylo Ren ended up being, instead of just plain scary or evil like Vader or the Emperor. I really did like Rey (and Daisy Ridley's portrayal of her). Her character and backstory (with all its glorious holes) were quite intriguing. The last FOUR? What is the fourth movie?

In release order. Liked the first two. They lost me somewhat with "Return of the Jedi" - and I had barely any interest for the prequel trilogy, though I finally managed to fight my way through and watch them all.

I enjoyed it for what it was but had a lot of issues with it. Gave it a B-. Not sure I can get into why I had issues with it without spoilers so feel free to read my online review if you want to know my issues with it. DONT if you havent seen it yet...
I will say it was too derivative of New Hope. Everything is pretty much the same. It also leads to a MILLION freaking questions. Spent like 3 days straight on YouTube as soon as I came home from watching it just pouring over fan blog videos so I could understand things like the difference between a "rebellion" and a "resistance", Ren's real motivation (why does he talk to that mask if Vader ultimately turned good?) and just who Rey may actually be and how in the world she could possibly defeat... well nevermind... go see it so we can talk...

The Force Awakens
I liked the first release then called 'Star Wars' (remember the old Jawa the Hutt?), really liked the 2nd release 'Empire Strikes Back', didn't mind 'Return of the Jedi' though it felt 'stretched'. As you say, I too managed to fight my way through the three 'prequels' once. Though there are moments of good scenes, they seemed to have some of the worst acting. Liked The Force Awakens as it managed to bring things back into line even with the blatant nostalgia-fest expectations put onto it. the new characters really helped this one along, even though Kylo Ren was a cheesy man-child Now, Rogue One... now THAT is a Star Wars movie!
