I'm kinda bummed Philae didn't wake up. If I recall correctly, they've passed from the perihelion, which offered the best moment for a waking. Sadly, nothing. But I did hear a new study was published in which the lander's data was used to determine that the comet was originally two pieces that fused together. Fascinating stuff.
In other astronomy news, has anyone else been absolutely wowed by the pictures of Pluto and Charon, coming in from New Horizons? Who's the prettiest dwarf planet of the lot? And now the presence of water ice! I never suspected Pluto could be this interesting! |
