Fili and Kili are young! It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Excellent choice! Exactly right.
He was Arthur Dent in Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, was he not? Ideal everyman character. |

Somehow, I don't see him as Beorn or Thranduil. Maybe he could do a re-imagined Gollum, though. . .

What the hell, let's just give him a TARDIS and let him be the Doctor.

Freeman is the only name/face I recognise so far. Don't know the other blokes. The ones whose picture I saw are pretty good looking, so the girls will no doubt love them, but I wonder if they'd look so hot with beards...
You know, he could totally do that role, if they keep that scene in the movie. The thing is, I just can't imagine Tennant with pointy ears and long hair. So I'd love to see him get that role, just for that image.

Yeah, that would be quite a scene! The Hobbit elves are a bit manic, anyway - oh, he could also be one of the elves on the way into Rivendell!
Or as Gwai says, just have him drop in in his TARDIS ... maybe instead of Bilbo saying "The Eagles are coming!" it could be "The Doctor is coming!"

I can't really imagine Freeman as Bilbo, but we'll have to see...he looks a little too "stuck up British man" to me I just hope they hold on to the book's simple humor-it's a different type of story than LotR.

He certainly "looks" like how I imagined Bilbo.

Serkis is doing Gollum, Elrond also unchanged. I think Tennant would be great as an elf, love the idea of him hamming it up in the Barrels routine.

I'd love to have David Tennant in the Hobbit, but I don't think they'll get him - I hear that another Doctor actor is going to play Radagast the Brown.
I've never heard of Martin Freeman before, to be honest. I guess I'll have to go watch some of his movies now.

Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor) is playing Radagast. I got my pic w/ him the other day @ Armageddon!
(Syvester McCoy, me, Paul McGann (8th Doctor).

Was Radagast even in The Hobbit? I can't recall.
In any case Mr. McCoy has a good wizard's face.

I don't think so - but he was left out of the LOTR movies.
Maybe we'll also get Tom Bombadil and the Scouring!
