The Road and other musical moments. . .

In the movie, at the begining, as Gandalf is driving his cart along in the shire, he's singing, "The Road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began . . ." Later, as Bilbo is leaing, he is also singing this softly to himself.
Did anybody else notice other times where this or other songs are sung?

Did the elves sing anything?
I think I'd better see the movie again to find out . . .

Legolas claimed, that music in LothloriƩn was mourning song for Gandalf, but I didn't catch word "Mithrandir", at any point...

That's because they called him Olorin.

Oh yeah, there was that . . . I forgot about it. I really meant songs from the books though. But the Lament for Gandalf is indeed beautiful, and sad, and they probably did call him Olorin. Good observation, Darth Tater.

I believe there is another part where "Road goes ever on" is sung - but not by any of the characters. It's when Sam and Frodo stop to rest under a tree, it starts out as a long shot - with Frodo's back against the trunk. It's not too long after they've left the shire.

They did say Mithrandir, somewhere and Olorin too. I'm quite sure of it, or so it says in that CD-booklet I had. But my sister nicked my CD so I can't be entirely sure.

Actually - I saw the movie again yesterday. The part where frodo and Sam rest - isn't sung. Frodo says - "as Bilbo used to say..." and then the camera scans the landsape and zooms on them gathering wood. Frodo actually speaks the words.

hmm now that i think of it.. . i can't really remember. i like that song though. it's my "favourite quote" section for graduation... i thought it fit well.
i wish that they could have sang the one about Beren and Luthien ... or the one about Nimrodel. ahh well... the movie is altered so much, they just might appear later on.

Daring Gaffer:
Whatever do you mean by "That is one great excuse"???

Earniel: I don't have the soundtrack, so I'm trusting you. I've only heard it in the movie.

Jerseydevil:
Really, he says them? Gosh, I REALLY gotta go see the movie again . . .

LuthienTinuviel:
I wanted to hear the song about Beren and Luthien too.

laurelyn: you said something like "did the elves sing anything? i think i'd better see the movie again to find out ", that's why daring gaffer said that. i think it's a great excuse myself! hmm..maybe i ought to use that one next time
