Not that I think being at the center of the continental US is anything special...

Of course it is! There are lots of interesting things at your place that I don't have here and vice versa!

*sighs* I wish I was from Europe.
But I love the US, it is quite beautiful.

I like it here, but I will be the first to say that it is not EXCEPTIONAL... It is pretty, though, when you're out in the country.

*looks indignant* I'm not simply from Europe, I am from the Netherlands! There's a difference. Just so you know.

I doubt you'd find Europe much different from the US on every day life level though.

Whoops, better go to bed now. Don't want to be late for class tomorrow morning.

I love Europe though, there is just something about it. I think it just brings out everything in me, its so...beautiful. I guess if I was from there it would be different, but Im not, unfortunately. Im moving to Rome right out of college!

Wow.. an American who has something nice to say about Europe Who figures! Just kidding

I think Canada & USA on the one side and Europe on the other complement each others in their ways, both good and poor influences on a two-way street across the pond. In geographical terms they are entirely similar with a few twists and turns unique to each continent. Mostly the same soup of people and cultures.

F.ex in Minnesota there is a heavy presense of Norwegian-Americans. In all, 2% of the U.S. population consists of Norwegian-Americans! That's more Norwegian-Americans than there are Norwegians in Norway

I often think of America as some strange version of Europe as we could have been, and Canada as the America that Europe is

This is some strange art, thought you might want to check it out. One of her pieces, "The Walk" (my favorite, actually) is on display at my school now. Some of them I don't like too much because they look too obviously photoshopped or just weird. I mean, they're all weird, but I like "The Walk" because it's subtly so.

I'm trying to work up the strength to sell some more books on ebay. I want to use the money to get a Twilight shirt. I'm just so weak when it comes to getting rid of my books. It's physically painful.

Are they textbooks?

I thought you meant you were having trouble selling textbooks!

There is always the library, you know.

Perhaps you could buy them again if you find later that you want to read them again? Unless they're very difficult to find, that is ...
I'm very particular to some of my books as well. There are some I wouldn't sell.

I just want to get a bigger bookshelf.

I thought they were textbooks.. those are the only books it makes sense to sell!

Sorry, I'm not helping. I'll be quiet.

On the other hand, once my dad had a friend who was going to be an elementary teacher and she bought all these books on a first or second grade level, then got a fifth grade teaching job. My dad made me sell like, thirty or forty books to her for practically nothing (I think it was the whole lot for thirty dollars!). Some were like, the Baby-Sitters' Club books, but some were my precious Beverly Cleary's Ramona Quimby books. I miss those, I do, but I only want to read them when I think about them, and I don't actually think about them that often. Life is kind of busy for me to be dwelling on books I once had.

Of course, I could just be patient and buy my t-shirt out of my next paycheck without selling any books. That's a possibility too.
