Favorite Place in LOTR
What's your favorite place in LOTR? It can be any of the books. My personal favorite would have to be Erebor or Moria (before it was corrupted).

Favourite place? Hmm... I'll have to think about it.
The short-list: Gondolin, Himring (pre unnumbered tears), the Shire. Mirkwood. Hmm. Doriath even.

I'd gladly tag along with Gimli and Legolas on the Fangorn/Glittering Caves tour.

Tough question. I think I'd like Rivendell as a sort of home base but wouldn't want to be constrained to any one place. Kind of like the young Aragorn, Thorongil, I'd like to move around.

I like it in the Shire. Especially that hidden place in the forest that Gildor and his elves brought the hobbits to. Still can't understand Gildor's reluctance to help them though (But I digress)
It's nice cause I have this feeling it's always blue skies there, evergreen, peaceful. I bet the stars are all out and bright in the nightsky.. that's gotta be the place

The Shire or Rivendell, I would say. The Shire would remind me of England ...
But if I had to be stuck in one place only, then I know where: The Library of Rivendell!

Why do you wink? The books? Or the librarians!

Depends on who the librarians are!
Rivendell's my home, no question. Gondolin if we're in the First Age. I stick with Glorfindel.

I'd want to see the glittering caves, but more then that I loved the way Ithilien was described. Not the perfectly landscaped version, but the wild one still trying to escape from Sauron's influence in RotK. *stupid grin*
Sas, nice thread, I was thinking about this myself not so long ago, but never got to it.
