They are pretty much connected by the ambilical chord at this point. Thats why its a joke to have the US act as any kind of real arbitrator in these affairs. They side with Israel as a default no matter what.

That is at the core of the problem - the conflict wont go away - ever - since the USA is buttressing Israel and the Arab nations (hating USA) is buttressing the Palestinians.

...until Hezbollah decides to take those missiles out from underneath civilian beds, and launch from rooftops again. And then point fingers at Israel for killing civilians whose lives were in their hands.

my dad use to be a missionary in Central America, and the froup he was with used to donate money to "schools". He found out from someone that these "schools" were a hoax. Whoever it was that was hoaxing would herd kids to the "school" when some donater would visit, and when they left, it may as well have never been there.
