Co-Writing
myself and a friend are beginning work on a book, and i was wondering if you guys could give us a hand in naming the main character, and probably giving opinions/advice in the future...
as for now, i'm charged with the task of finding a cool name for him, he's a rogue elf assassain[sp?] dark dude, and i was tryin to find a word in tolkien elvish, or some obscure language that means like, "shadow", or "darkness", or something good for him like that, so people would say, "hey, that's a cool name!" even if they didn't know what it meant, but if they did than they'd get the meaning, if you follow me....any ideas?

I don't know anything about writing or naming characters, but the elvish word for Dark is Mor.

here's a great multi-lingual translator that may help you come up with some ideas

How's about "Colmurin"? "Colo" means "cloak", and then you tack on a form of "mor". Then just slap on "in" to make it sound good.
