shadowfax
how quick was he?
reading unfinshed tales it says that gandalf went from near the hornburg to isengard - a 100 miles - in bout 4 hours [if i remeber writely he says he left in the afternoon and arrived their at night = 4/5 hours] and considering the quickest horses can do 30mph then im guessing he could do bout 45-55mph what does every one think? |

Re: shadowfax
100 miles in four hrs. is 25 mph.!! therefore I suggest that SF did not tire as normal horses could not sustain that speed and length of time without stopping.

Re: shadowfax
That was very logical of you, Spock.
He was not a normal horse, no. It might be mentioned also that Gandalf said that were the West Wind embodied it would be even as Shadowfax. |

Re: shadowfax
Shadowfax was VERY fast, and did not tire easily. Truly a great horse of Rohan.

Re: shadowfax
Acording to " The Complete Guide to Middle-earth", by Robert Foster, shadowfax could travel for twelve hours straight before needing to stop for a rest.
