Knee-walking turkeys, which can of course be found in the Land of the Knee-walking Turkeys. I'm not sure, but I think that's somewhere near the Paper Maché Mountains.

Gotta go with Tom Bombadil, as it seems he is a race unto himself.

Foxes. That fox at the beginning of FOTR that says "3 hobbits sleeping out in the woods! What next?!" or "There goes the neighborhood." Cracks me up. It makes the whole book for me.

Hmmmmm.... I wonder if knee-walking turkeys have wings? How did they arrive at Lammoth "like a tempest of fire" to rescue Morgoth from Ungoliant?
On a more serious note I like the Ents and the Sindarin Elves. The Sindar are so carefree, fa lala lalala lally........ |

Why would knee-walking turkeys need wings? I think they must have had wings, but they probably don't need them to fly. Compare Tom's ability to leap far distances, such as over the Barrow Downs. The Knee-walking turkeys of Morgoth could have done something similar to come to the latter's aid.

Hobbits are so cool, and I completely identify with them. Surprised that so few others chose them!
I love the Elves too, especially the Noldor. The story of their exile, trials in Middle-earth, and eventual return has got to be one of the saddest and most beautiful stories ever. (As you can tell, I'm a huge Silmarillion fan. ) Also, their "magic" is very intrinsic and natural, and everything that they possess is touched by it.

But the passage in LOTR where Gandalf confronts the great Knee-Walking Turkey?
It spread out its wings which filled the entire cavern. I'm sure there's a decent depiction by John Howe of the Knee-Walking Turkey of Moria....... |
