... the latest book by William Gibson. Anyone else read it? What are your thoughts? Will it be followed by another two in the same kind-of series?

Also, anyone read his script for Alien3 which was never used?

Hmm, quiet forum this, isn't it? I find it hard to believe ther ar this many SF fans in one place who haven't read anything by William Gibson. You can take that as another dig at the trekkies.

Gibson's latest book is set in present-day London (and other places), and based around what is best described as an internet conspiracy theory. If you want my take on it, he has leant more towards a character story than the kind of really confusing, somewhat deterministic narrative that is more his usual line. You still can't beat him as a writer though.

I haven't had a chance to read Pattern Recognition yet. So far, the only Gibson novel I have read is Neuromancer, which I think is one of the best novels I've ever read.

Unfortunately, the libraries and used book shops in my area never have any of his stuff besides Neuromancer. So, I'm sorry I can't offer any thoughts on PR, but at least you can rest easily now knowing you aren't the only mooter who appreciates Gibson

If you enjoyed Neuromancer then you have to read the others, just skip The Difference Engine, it's terrible, though from reading it, it doesn't often appear to be Gibson's style at all. The short stories in Burning Chrome are pretty good too, you can see ideas developing.

I still haven't read this yet, but he wrote a script for Alien 3, which I've unzipped and uploaded here:

(save it and read it later, it's long) I think I got this from a site called the William Gibson Aleph, but I cant be sure, and I don't think there's any distribution restrictions - I downloaded it easily enough.

"pattern recognition" is the only william gibson book i've read so far and i really liked it. i recently bought "neuromancer" but haven't started it yet.
