I'm just gonna slip this in here because the thread will be redundant after tommorow

Rowling gave a great interview to the BBC last night.........here is the transcript for those unlucky enough not to be able to watch it.

So why is the American version cruddy? All it is is with Ameirican English spellings really - maybe some of the slang is Americanized so it's easier to understand.

Does that mean that if a book isn't in it's original language it's "cruddy"? Because that's all it is basically - a "translation". No different than the book being translated into French or Italian, except there are less words and phrases that need to be translated. Sorry - but we speak a different English than England - it doesn't mean it's worse or even better. All I know - is that it takes me fewer letters to write color than it does if I used Brit spelling.

I'd like to know what she meant by "snogging pants"? Does she mean that the house elf was kissing the pants, or stealing them?!

Edit: *I* didn't wait in line at all, my BF did, and HE only had to wait 1/2 an hour. (of course by the time lunchtime had rolled around, people could just walk in, get the book, pay, and walk right out. )

I just walked into the store and took the book from the desk that they were laying the books upon and went and paid for it. Only took about five minutes. It was a little embarrassing, it being just after nine o'clock, and heaps of kids buying it. I tried to get my sister to come along, but she wouldn't.

The snogging parts are nothing to get excited about (at least where I'm up to). I was disapointed, and actually yelled at the book.
