Oh no. I mean I do not follow Jewish law that strictly. I keep kosher, pretty much, go to synagogue once in a while, keep most in holidays in some fashion (light a chanukiah, have a seder, listen to a migellah etc) but I don't keep the sabbath or generally keep Jewish law in an orthodox sense. Doesn't mean I'm irrelegious or an atheist, far from it.

I guess being a vegetarian would technically be keeping kosher.

Hmm... I don't really keep few things: I don't read the megillah, (not in Purim, and not in other holidays), and I'm not sure what seder is. And I don't go to synagogue. (one time a year max.) And losher - well, I just think that eating frogs, pigs and ostrich is... disguasting. I'm not reguler to eat that, apperently.

I find the situations of Jews in israel absolutely hilarious. It doesn't surprise-except for my religious relatives all the Jews I know in Israel are decidely secular. I guess it comes from not having to worry about assimilation.

I wouldn't discribe it as 'hilarious'. If god really wants us to enjoy life why would he (she?) tell us to fast, or not work in Saturday? here is the problem - it's forbidden to drive in Sat., to activate computer, or any other electric machine, including elevators, refrigerators, TV, etc. In Kipur day, when you come to a religious neighbourhood, they sometimes throw on you boiling water. I was almost hit by some.
