Did Thorin or Bard slay Smaug?
In the book I read Bard killed Smaug, but my friend read that Thorin killed Smaug. Which version did J.R.R. Tolkien write originally?

I think that someone played with the story of the Hobbit. But, anyways, it's really strange.

It was Bard's arrow, in the only weak part of Smaug's "armour". Nothing to do with Thorin.

Bard killed Smaug with his Black Arrow. It was the only way to get a clear shot of Smaug's weak spot, and also, I think Thorin was fighting an army of Orcs instead of trying to kill Smaug.
