Elberth:

I agree; Toronto is too warm. Northern Alberta, Huh?
Do you live in a farmhouse or a city?
Since you seem to be one who likes the north: did you know that there is a city/town (probably town) called Alert that is located on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island (Canada's northern-most Island)?
To put it into perspective, that's the same thing as the northern tip of Greenland (where noone lives).
I do wonder what it's like in that town. What surprises me is that the Canadian atlas labels it as an "important city/town". How could anything so far north be so important? Anyway...

Americans: Not all Canadians hate the snow...
If you Americans want to see snow and still have a good time for a fairly inexpensive price, probably the best place to go is the Canadian Rockies; there are three huge parks there that you can stay in. There's snow there all year round.
And if you go in winter, you might get lucky and catch one of the warm currents of air that heat up those regions from time to time. Just be sure to bring very, very warm sleeping bags if you're going camping, and a lipstick for cracked lips.

Added note: I found an interesting site on Alert, Canada at webhome.idirect.com/~jbuc...alert.html

Re: ...

Niffiwan, I actually don't live in either city or farm...
I live in a small town, about 400 ppl all counted.
It's absolutly hilarious when I go down south, last spring I was in Oregon, some of them are so oblivious to Canadian civilization. I have been asked if we had CD players yet.
And I think Xivigg is right, about Alert that is. I think it's required that Canada have a military outpost/representative every so many kilometers. Can't remember exactly though. It's marked as important because it's more important than the frozen tundra surrounding it.

Re: ...

I'm still hopeful that we'll miss some school. Remember last time we had this much snow? It was the Blizzard of '96, and we ended up getting a week off of school!

Re: ...

The snow all changed to rain. Not fair!!! Haven't gotten a decent snowfall in four years.

Re: ...

I have been watching the Weather Channel and it does appear that you all in the northeast got dumped on! It has snowed here almost everyday since before Christmas.....we have had about 13 inches total. That is a good amount for Kentucky......we have had some winter storms that have dumped a lot more than that in one night....1996 and 1994 come to mind. '96 I believe we received something like 23 inches in one day!

Re: It's snowing!

Lucky.... our school superintendant won't delay or cancel school unless there's 2 feet of snow or more.
