Cool respectful believer/non believer quotes

RULES

1. THIS IS NOT TO BE ANTAGONIST

2. Just post a quote from some of different belief system that you think is cool or respect etc

3. Can be from any source

4) state why you what you disbelieve but like about it

I will start
Dream Theater
Images & Words (1992)
Learning To Live

There was no time for pain
No energy for anger
The sightlessness of hatred slips away
Walking through winter streets alone
He stops and takes a breath
With confidence and self control

I look at the world and see no understanding
I'm waiting to find some sense of strength
I'm begging you from the bottom of my heart to show some understanding

I need to live life
Like some people never will
So find me kindness
Find me beauty
Find me truth
When temptation brings me to my knees
And I lay here drained on stength
Show me kindness
Show me beauty
Show me truth

The ways that your heart sounds makes all the difference
It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel
The way that your heart beats makes all the difference
In learning to live
Here before me is my soul
I'm learning to live
I won't give up
Till I've no more to give

Listening to the city
Whispering its violence
I set out watching from above
The 90's bring new questions
New solutions to be found
I fell in love to be let down

Once again we dance in the crowd
At times a step away
From a common fear that's all spread out
It won't listen to what you say
Once you're touched and you stand alone
To face the bitter fight
Once I reached for love
And now I reach for life

Another chance to lift my life
Free the sensation in my heart
To ride the wings of dreams into changing horizons
It brings inner peace within my mind,
As I'm lifted from where I've split my life
I hear an innocnet voice
I hear kindness, beauty and truth

The way your heart sounds makes all the difference
It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel
The way your heart beats makes all the difference
In learning to live
Spread before you is your soul
So forever hold the dreams within our hearts
Through nature's inflexible grace

I do not believe in the soul or " nature's inflexible grace"
Nonetheless I think it is a beautiful song

From Time Requiem

Have mercy, Lord on me, regard my bitter wiping
Your forgiveness has assured me
Through you Son's despair and pain

I do not deny my guilt
But your mercy, if you will
Far exceeced my transgression
Of which I must must make confession

Well, I am not Christian. But, I like the words

So it has to be a quote from a belief genre? Or can it vary further into quotes that have been with you for many years for inspiration or things of the like?

Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta!' - And those were the words that Elendil spoke when he came up out of the Sea on the wings of the wind: 'Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come. In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.'

'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. Thus armed he went forth from Turgon's hall, and stood upon the high terraces of Taras in the red light of the sun. None were there to see him, as he gazed westward, gleaming in silver and gold, and he knew not that in that hour he appeared as one of the Mighty of the West, and fit to be father of the kings of the Kings of Men beyond the Sea, as it was indeed his doom to be; but in the taking of those arms a change came upon Tuor son of Huor, and his heart grew great within him. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin

Intriguing. Well I admire countless quotes from basically all the major religions and from many philosophies. And Im agnostic so I guess I could choose from any of them. But Ill do something interesting here. Ill choose a quote from an atheist:

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god then you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
Stephen Roberts

Roberts said this quote when talking to a christian but it could of course apply to any member of any of the major religions. Its a great quote because Ive never met anyone of any religion who could get around its logic. It really makes you think about things.

Let me enlighten you
This is the way I pray:

Living just isn't hard enough
Burn me alive inside
Living my life's not hard enough
Take everything away

--Disturbed, Prayer

I love the lyrics and the song, though I don't pray.

I will be waiting
With a song in my soul
A fortunate weakling
Which I have foretold

He raises his arms tied
Above the abyss
Singing his sweet song
His melody opens up the sun

Freedom raid
God has come
The rivers of blood
Pushed back in my veins

She sleeps with her eyes closed
To dream of the past
Her mind has gone blind now
While the memory closes up the sun

Freedom rain
God has come
The rivers of blood
Pushed back in my veins

I will be waiting
With a song in my soul
A fortunate weakling
Which I have foretold

--Linkin Park, Soul Song

I don't believe in God (or souls in the sense that religious people do), but I really enjoy listening to this song. Even singing along with it. It's very beautiful.
