A Question
My friend receantly asked a really bizarre trivia question, and I don't know where to find the answer. He asks..
What was the battle cry of Malach's great-great-great-great-grandson? (that's four greats) Malach, I think, was a Man mentioned somewhere in the Silmarillion. However, I don't remember him and certainly don't remember his family tree. Any help would be wonderful.

A stated by http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corr...611/tolk_1.htm , the line of Malach is as follows:
Malach Magor Hathol Hador Galdor Hurin And Hurin's battle cry was "Aure Entuluva", which means "Day shall come again!" Didn't take but a minute to find. And it helps that this part of the Silmarillion is my favorite. But it didn't help that, on my first try, I spelled "Tolkien" as "Tlokien". Google fixed it for me.

Or would that be Turin? Ah, me... but at least that helps, I suppose... you can double-check that part.

What I meant was, would Turin or Hurin be the great-great-great-great-grandson, though I knew that was indeed Hurin's battle-cry.

Hurin (Brian Reynolds) has his own web site at:
http://www.Dor-lomin.com/ (note, he is NOT the Brian Reynolds of civ2 & SMAC fame) He has a civ2 senario there for Beleriand from Dagor Bragolach to the Niarneth. |

Wasn't that Fingolfins cry when Turgon came forth from Gondolin?
Hurins cry was "Auta i lomë!" (I think)

I think this belongs in the Silmarillion forum, so I'm moving it there.

Falagar, not Fingolfin (who had been killed by Morgoth), but his son Fingon. You are close with Húrin's cry, only it is "Aute".

It's pretty confusing because they all start at Fin (Fingolfin, Fingon, Finarfin, Finwë, Finrod, etc)
*checks Silm.* Actually we were all wrong Hurin's battlecry was "Aurë entuluva!", while the cry of Fingon () was "Utùlie'n aurë! Ayia Eldalie ar AtaniatÃ*ri, utùlien Aurë!" and those who heard him's cry was "Auta i lòmë!"

Eh. ... Must have last word ... hmm ... oh, yes! Your accent marks are going the wrong way! Ha! It should be "ú", and "á", and "ó". Ha!
