Instead of starting a new thread - I figured I'd just expand galadriel88's question.
Since my mother had died the week before Thanksgiving (Nov 20th) - it doesn't really have the same meaning that it once did. That wasn't the greatest Thanksgiving - that's for sure. But I've still had fun during Thanksgiving - such as having a back stage pass 2 years ago at the Macy's Day Parade. I was wondering what type of things people do for Thanksgiving. This year I'm just spending it by myself. I have a turkey I'll cook, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy and my mother's recipe for stuffing. When I was little we used to always go over to my grandmothers and spend it there.

Firstly happy Thanksgiving to all those in America!!!! What am I thankful for...hmm?
1. My best friend Jerri, she'd the most amazing person on earth who shares my love of Tolkien and helps me through everything. 2. My family- I love them all (even if my little brother did dislocate my wrist the other day) 3. My dance, drama, music teachers etc who help me with my career. 4. My talents as a performer and a writer (does that sound pretentious?) 5. Tolkien and Newline. 6. The Moot- oh the friends I've made. 7. The chance to make my own way in the world now I'm an adult and really make a difference to myself and others. That about covers it unless you want me to launch into an oscar style-y speech. Mx

well since there's soooo much i'm thankful for i'm only gonna name some of the stuff.
1. having a big family that's all gonna be together for thanksgiving, well at least the imediate family. 2. having a nation wide day set aside for giving thanks. 3.living in that nation. 4.having a home, lots of land, a good guard dog,and clothes 5.freedom, well not as much as it used to be but it's still a lot more than other countries. 6.and i'm really thankful that bob riley beat don siegelman and that the GOP outnumber the dem. ( i think that's right anyway) i think that's all i'm gonna say for now. Quote:

Obviously we're happy we're not British - since we actually had a revolution to overthrow the British government here. So I'm happy that we had the Revolution and we WON.

I should point out that losing the America's was the beginning of the downfall of the British Empire not the beginning of getting one. Quote:

Jeez, we can't even have a nice Thanksgiving thread without arguing. Oh well, I've never known a family that got along all the time. Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I am thankful for:
1 an interesting job I love, although I earn just enough to barely make ends meet 2 a supportive family, given #1 3 friends that share my passions and stimulate me to develop new ones 4 all the creative people in the world making art, music and literature that challenges me and enriches my life 5 food, shelter and health so I can enjoy #1-4 What am I doing tomorrow? bringing a pie and some wonderful wine to share with friends and family I guess I should add two more things I'm thankful for -- Thanksgiving is at someone else's home and I don't have to cook the turkey, only bake a pie!!
