Nazgul in the 2nd age.
Nazgul in the 2nd age.
Is there any mention of them engaging in any battles in the Second Age?

I believe the first Nazgul to take part in a battle was the Witch King at Fornost. Or the first that we hear of in the books. In the mid of TA.
But your question made me wonder. Why didn't they fight against the Last Alliance? Surely it would have been mentioned in the books if they did?

I find it strange that they 1st appeared around SA 1600; however, they did seem to have done much.

According to The Tale of Years, Sauron forged The One Ring in 1600 SA. The Ringwraiths first appeared in 2251 SA, but there is no mention of them fighting in battles.

![]() Not much is said of the Ring-wraiths in the Second Age. Near the beginning of the Third Age, when evil was beginning to stir again in Middle-Earth, the Witch-king, Lord of Angmar, attacked the Dunedain in Arnor.
"A great host came out of Angmar" in 1409 of the Third Age; the Dunedain were defeated, Arveleg was slain, and Amon Sul was then burned and ruined. Dunedain retreated to Fornost, where it was later captured in 1974. I think that is what Artanis is referring to. Hope that helps. ![]() Auta i lome! Aure entuluva! |
