No I haven't seen it.
What's up with the sudden burst of old classics being remade though?

I also noticed this odd trend of Hollywood being completely devoid of original scripts. Or maybe that's not so odd...
I've seen the original, but I haven't seen the new one yet. I'd like too, I think the original is the perfect candidate for a remake. It has a completely brilliant plot, but is slightly marred by random racist comments and the occasional sexist comment. (If my future husband tells me to make like a housewife and fetch him a bottle of wine, I'd file for an annulment right then and there. ) They could get an actual Korean (or at least someone of Asian background) to play the Korean translator guy. For some reason, the only characters whose names I can remember are Raymond Shaw (main character), Josie, and Johnny (evil candidate guy and Raymond's step-dad). Everyone else is the Major, the Major's girlfriend (or Girl from Train), and evil mom. My only other beefs are the silly fight scene between the Major and the Korean translator (weird hand motions indicating knowledge of martial arts, low quality punching, incomprehensible kicking, exagerrated falling etc. ), and Mr Clean as the encumbent President. But I thought it was a mad spiffy movie and a very cool plot. I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I hope the remake does the plot justice. Aside from sprucing up a few cosmetic things and getting rid of outdated racism/sexism, no change needs to be made. Is the remake still set in (and after) the Korean war? (It starts 1952 IIRC.)

I didn't care to see the remake. I'll stick with the original in this, The Alamo, and Oceans 11 thank you very much.

I have only seen the new one, and really liked it, extremely well acted.
This one is set in modern day, after the Gulf war rather than the Korean war.

I now seen the new one.
The trouble with the new one is they make business the evil. Those evil corporations... The story works better in the old one.
