Lief: there are several 'real' elvish tongues tolkien invented. The main two are quenya and sindarin. What arat said is quenya, but that's all i know... I wouldn't have a clue what it means...

Life, ai! made by Tolkien himself... the ancient tongue of the elves, spoken in Valinor... the ones who traveled to middle earth, or Beleriand at that time developed their language further. Sindarin is the most popular language of these (Sindarin is what Arwen and Aragorn speak to each other in the movie, but when Gandalf talk to the dwelf lord, he sais: "Ando Eldarinwa a lasta quettanya, Fenda Casarinwa!" which is quenya and means: "Elvish gate, listen to my word, dwarvish doorthreshold". And then when that don't work, he sais "mellon" which means friend, but is Sindarin :P Todays elvish-tongue lesson..

I could post some links to pages for which to learn these languages::

http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/

http://hem.passagen.se/benninge/quenya-english.html

http://www.dragons-inn.org/Ifreann/eng_elf.html

http://www.dragons-inn.org/Ifreann/elf_eng.html

These are only for starters.. the last 3 links are only corpus and translations.. you should check out the first link to get all the rules and so on for the language.. and there are several different Tolkien languages to learn on that first link...

It's an elvish greeting.

I don't think it needs to be night, also, the stars shine day AND night, we just don't see them during the day!

Oh yes, we do, the sun is a star too, just a star that stands so close to us in the universe, we only see her during the day...

I believe the greeting is basically "A star shines at the hour of our meeting" - meaning, I suppose, that our meeting is blessed in some way. I do not think it requires it to be night out.

Sigh, good thing my character is a Man. I don't understand all these immortal stuff?

Actually I read through the Sindarin article on Ardalambion some time back and all I learnt was mutations which were pretty useless considering how I couldn't structure any words.

yeh, you need to understand the gramma in order to be able to put words together... it is pretty much like finnish structur on sentenses.. which makes no sense.. it is a difficult language to learn, and I am by no means an expert

Did I mess up everything with my last post?? I miss some peoples posting!! Come on!

Mathron: If I understood your last post correct... the dead people we found by the cottage was already burried. It was the wife of Arat-Lumënion, Arat-BÃ*renath's brother... The cottage belongs to Lumënion, though he is not there, we don't know where he is.. The creature that BÃ*renath followed through the forrest was the Uruk-Hai played by Selwythe...

hope that makes everything clear

hey, i just want to say something. If i say something about a necklace or so, irid wore that necklace a long time, but in another rpg she just found it (if that makes sense). (that other rpg is in the second era). There are some other things in the future that will have happened in her past that i haven't talked about yet. Just so you know

Selwythe - my apologies for Harnauro's actions. But I'm pretty sure had I let you continue unhindered, Alfwine would be a dead character. It has been made clear the woods are a dangerous place - characters can get away with poking their heads in once, but you really would have no way to reasonably have Alfwine survive without severely altering some of the plot.

I know and wasn't intending for him to really enter as before, with unexpected events. My mind is currently dead with that unconsciousness. Hope you can continue from there.
