I enjoy setting myself goals, but I have three requirements:
1. They must be realistic 2. I must have a set, solid plan for reaching them 3. I promise that I wont beat myself up if I don't reach them. For instance say I set a goal to have built up my own vocal studio by the time I'm 30. Then I'd say okay I'm 19 now, when I get out of college I'll be 21 (almost 22) according to my plans, but we'll set that back to 23 just in case. So I'd have seven years to get things running. Then I'd go about talking to people who have built their own studios and see how they did it, what they'd do differently, and try to get some time-frames from them for when they did things. ... at least that's how I set goals. My family thinks I'm nuts. I call it being practical... I don't want to set some ephemeral goal and hope that my general outline of a plan will get me there. Much like Mari, my hope is to live my life without any major regrets... which means doing all that I can to succeed, but also not setting myself up for failure (which is what my dad did and constantly does, and it makes him absolutely miserable). But really, Curu... *HUGGLES!!!!!!!!!* Just remember my dear, if all else fails, a life lived as a dramatic soprano is never a wasted life. But more seriously, you seem like you're quite a nice person, and I think you'd be surprised how much influence a nice person can have on other people. It doesn't matter if you're working construction, a secretary, a car dealer, a super star, or the highest CEO of a Fortune 500... being nice and trying your hardest to be a good person will probably have more influence over other people than you might think. I know people who will probably be doing low-level work for the rest of their lives, but I love and respect them just as much as I do some of the doctors I know (several of whom are ridiculously well off) because they're all nice people . Important Notice for All Teacup People
Hey everyone!
Yesterday I was bored, so I cooked up an entertaining little mystery story involving several of us Teacup frequenters called "Teacup Mysteries: The Case of the Missing Locket." You can find the story posted in the Writer's Workshop forum, or you can just click on the link in my signature. I also started a discussion thread for any comments. Please enjoy! Here's the LINK to it.

Does it have me in it? I'm not sure it'd be worth my time to read if it doesn't.

As a matter of fact, it does. You're one of "the people waiting outside, waiting for the Teacup to open."

I'm not in it, either.
No pie for Hector.

Instead, we'll give him a choice of rat cake, rat pudding, rat fondue, or strawberry tart.

Women...yeesh...whatcha gonna do with em? Dunno though, this one seems to be the kind that can play along with me; she's doing an admirable job so far. This counts as a happy day. Edit: Wow, lots of cross posting today! I'm the main protagonist in what now? *scrolls up and reads about your story* Hmm... The teacup sherlock holmes? Sounds down right groovey. I'll scoot along and read em.

*has no idea what Sane is talking about, but she doesn't care either, because she is too busy with trying to sneak up on her as to tackle her*

Or without em, either. Well, actually, yes, you can I suppose. It'd just be very boring though.

Finish that sentence properly please: "but you can't live without 'em either!"
*falls flat on her face, looks about to cry and asks Sane for a hug and while she is at it, she asks Sis the same* I'm shameless
