There are more boys than girls in the world, so having three sons should statistically be more common than having three daughters. Though the chances of having a boy or a girl always are and will remain 50/50 of course.
And the information above is also pretty much the only information I retained after 6 years of maths

*chuckles* I guess so.
I bought 24 books yesterday. All English, most of them useful for my studies as a teacher of English. So yay!

i'm going to morocco tomorrow! in 2 weeks, we have our wedding party there.. i like to call it my third wedding (with the same person). but even without the party, morocco is always nice, my new family is awesome, there are tens of cats and lots of cool insects to take photos of.

How exotic! Dare I assume that the party will include some elements of Moroccan culture, such as yummy Berber cuisine and perhaps classic Andalusian music?
Where in Morocco will the party take place? I'm sure you guys will have one heck of a time!

*jealous* I've always thought North Africa must be gorgeous, and wanted to go.

Yesterday I met with my cousins and we decided how to share what we've inherited from our aunt who died earlier this year.
We first went through the things that had some value - jewellery and silverware, mostly (did you know that there are special kitchen utensils for serving tomatoes?). Then we went on to all the china - dinnerware and teacups - and textiles - tablecloths and lace - and glassware - and furniture - everything that was in the flat. (There was no real estate involved.) I'm happy that we had a lovely day together and didn't fall out over anything. Sometimes there were items that more than one of us wanted, but either we drew lots about it or we resolved it in other ways. No hard feelings. We even had fun - perhaps partly to keep the sadness of the occasion away, but also because we usually do have fun when we're together. I really should make a point of seeing them more often - we hadn't met since the last funeral ...

thanks, all! i'm sure it'll be a great party..
and gwai, yeah, it's really beautiful. a lot of it is desert, of course, which is gorgeous: but there's so much else. and the changes in altitude brings a lot: some places feel a lot like finnish forests, because they're so high up. o.O to be fair, i've only been in morocco of all the northern african countries, so i can't know how awesome the whole place is. i wish to see more of it, soon. 8 hours until take-off!

There's all sorts of fun things in old silver services!
(not that I have one ... ) I'm so glad it went well - too many times it can go waaaaay bad! And now you have some nice mementos of her

One of the mementos she wanted me to have (all of us had some jewellery mentioned in her will) was her mother's wedding ring, that is, the wedding ring of my maternal grandmother, with my grandfather's name inscribed in it (Din Knut 21/6 - 19) (din=your).
I want to add something to it - a tiny emerald, if it's not too ridiculously expensive and if the color suits the gold well, or something else to decorate it - and then wear it a lot. I've been wearing my mother's wedding ring ever since she died.

Sounds like a nice plan. I liked having something special just for me when my grandfather died. It was even more special since he thought about it for me and decided I should be the one to have it.

I got my great-grandmother's jewel box that way. I didn't particularly cared for the contents, but she knew I loved the box itself. So when she died, it was given to me with what remained of her jewellery after the rest of the family had picked out what they wanted as memento for themselves. I still use it and think of her often that way. It still is as shiny.

That's a good memento as well
The shinyness could be a problem in my case - I don't want to have take the ring off every time I wash my hands (I'm bound to leave it behind sooner or later ), and then perhaps an emerald or some other glittering stone isn't so good. I'd love to add malachite, but that's too porous to withstand water, so same problem. Perhaps just some tiny gold object - I guess I should look at jewellery sites

Why wouldn't you be able to wash an emerald?
