Thanks. Now if only I could get our stinking city utilities to come out and turn the electricity, gas and water on, so that we could start cleaning!

My middle son's bday party went really well - just the little matter of cleaning up after 22 peeps ...

But it was well worth it!

I got five operatic CDs and one entire Rossini opera (L'Assedio di Corinto--haven't heard of it before, but I do love Rossini) at halfprice for $21!

Of course then I had to go and ruin the deal by spending another $29 at Borders on two more CDs. -_- I bought a Juan Diego Florez CD and a Mario Lanza CD... I mean totally, totally worth the money, but it ruined my bargain-opera-shopping streak . I haven't spent $50 all in one go like that since the last time I bought text books. Oh well.

I'm listening to the JDF CD right now and it's soooooooooo friggin' good. Worth every penny....

I got a wonderful letter from my daughter - they had to write a thank-you letter to someone as a class project, but hey - she chose ME, and it only had to be like 5 sentences, and she went well over 5, and said some very personal and wonderful things God, it's hard being a parent, and little thanks like that are very encouraging! People - if your parents are at all decent, please do them a huge blessing and write a little note or something - it will mean so much for them!

Since there's an ocean and continent between me and my mother, I'm just going to find a nice floral arrangement online, and send her a link.

So far as I know, there are no online florists in Kyrgyzstan. I can guarantee there are none in the obscure village where my mother resides.

The good thing about virtual flowers is that they can be a lot bigger than you could actually afford in real life.

Might know it from the news, too; they just had a (nother) coup about a month ago.

I'm soooo happy, I did really well in my conducting final this morning. The teacher said that it was obvious I had practiced a lot (even though I did screw up a number of times), and that I had done very, very well considering that at the beginning of the semester I had to learn a totally new way of conducting that everyone else had already been studying.

With any luck I'll get an A for that class. Maybe a B because it wasn't perfect, and he's a stickler for that, but either way... I think I'm satisfied.

Now if I can just survive my jury -_-. My voice is in no condition to be performing, but OH WELL.

I've started drinking tea without any sugar or honey in it, and at first I didn't care for it too much but now I rather enjoy it . Ever since I found out that the more sugar in your system you have, the less your body is able to lose weight, I decided to cut out sodas and not use sugar or honey in my tea. It's not like I -need- to lose weight, but I'd rather not ever gain it. -_-

I've also gone on a diet, and I think I've been under-eating... just also not eating the right stuff. I'm eating more food (it's healthier as well), and more of the actually 'filling' kind of food... so now I don't get hungry again within an hour of eating. ^_^ Hooray!

I never take sugar or honey in tea (unless I'm sick, in which case tea with lemon and honey is positively life-saving). I do take milk in breakfast teas; they're just too much without it.

Cutting out sodas will do wonders, more than taking less sugar with your tea could ever do

Well, exam week is finally over! The last really big exam of med school is behind me and the party tonight to celebrate it, was great!

Now a few precious hours of sleep before my friends stag party tomorrow morning...
