Well-known celebrity in arm-exercising:

Expert in his field, impressive quintet in his bag, long distinguished career.

Purple quadrant, product mounted on spires (usually requiring heavy dose of mouthwash after eating them), stifflegged greyclads

Except for the purple quadrant part, I'd say Red Square in Soviet Moscow.

I was thinking of the onion-tipped towers of the Kremlin which are a prominent feature by the Red Square. But Moscow, Russia was the correct answer.

...Big towns:

"On-again off again ownership of record" spire, Width Road peopled by live speakers in one way or another.

Spanned by ocre passageway, also known for wormy route which goes from high upon to down low.

Monaco? Monte Carlo? I don't know about the spire, though; that one sounds like Capital Records on Hollywood & Vine, here in Hollywood. Hmm.

Further hint 1:
Double spires came crashing down

Further hint 2:
Capital of the World for a certain "strange" people.

And yet again both are on the furthest side of the continent on the other side of the Big Pond.

Specific area in the United States:
Black + White, usually black when cats, place of rest for those whom are done working, a lot of hitting small balls with sticks.
