I don't think romance is going to play much part in the next two books - they're all a bit too young to settle down. That said, I ship R/Hr. Like azalea, I like the line where they're compared to Mr and Mrs Weasley. When will they realise it though?

Actually, there is evidence against H/Hr. In that link I gave you, there was a quote by JKR saying that their relationship is "platonic", which according to dictionary.com means

maybe too lazy to check, but what is "ship" ???? Is that like some weird british slang for couple?

Not British as far as I know. It's netspeak. And yes, it means couple. It's short for relationship. And a shipper is someone who ships (supports) the ship.

A. that wasn't the definiton my dictonery gave:
Platonic Love: A close relationship between two persons in which sexual desire [B]has been suppressed[B] or subliminated. Suppress: 1. To put down by authority or force 2. to keep from public knowlage: as a. to keep secret b. to stop or prevent the publication of. 3. a: To exclude from conciousness b. to keep from giving vent to 4. to press down So she might have meant that they are in love, but are suppressing it for the moment. B. She used the word "are" and that was a very old interveiw. C. JKR has said things in her interveiws and done diffrent things in the book. There is an essay on that somewhere... edit: for the actual word platonic, it gave the plato thing and "of or realating to platonic love" and the dictonery was Websters New Collegiate Dictionary. Edit #2: You mention in a earlier post that H/Hr shippers can be obnoxious, although that is quite true, R/Hr shippers are not any better, as the "Edited for Stupidity" section of HarrylovesHermione.com can show. I'm not saying that all R/Hr shippers are like that, or that H/Hr shippers are any better, just saying that idiocy is not limited to any ship. Main Entry: pla·ton·ic
1 capitalized : of, relating to, or characteristic of Plato or Platonism 2 a : relating to or based on platonic love; also : experiencing or professing platonic love b : of, relating to, or being a relationship marked by the absence of romance or sex And then platonic love: 2 : a close relationship between two persons in which sexual desire is nonexistent or has been suppressed or sublimated Hmm...I got that from Merriam Webster online. Absence of romance or sex? I don't doubt you, but maybe you're misunderstanding it. And then is nonexistent? Anywho, there's no point in arguing about the meaning of platonic. How bout you give me a specific scene where H/Hr is evident? And don't give me a link, I want an actual thing you find. Sorry about saying you can be obnoxious...I know we can be too, everyone can. But I meant that on one of my sites, some H/Hr shippers come on our R/Hr threads and harass us.

Can you say why you think that exactly?
JKR has said that Harry will have kisses in the 6th book, so there'll be some romance at least. I'm rooting for Ginny.

Oh dear, nobody has said my favourite so far...
Draco/Hermione Most of the HP fanfics I've read paint Draco in a good light, so my opinion of him has shifted quite a bit... Now I'm waiting for him to kill someone in the next book...

As far as Draco goes, I'm for Draco/Harry. In fanon only, mind you!
You do know Jo has shot D/Hr down, don't you? But it will always live on in fanon!

Won't it...
It's not the pairing I go for as much as the character... *very glad that a certain other obsession keeps her from devolving into a Draco Malfoy fangirl* I think I'm obsessed with blondes...! [edited] nice avvie, btw. Johnny Depp...

But really, I think that Ron/Hermione makes a lot of sense. I'm not really set in what I think the relationships should be, and I'm interested in seeing how they all develop further in the series. |

See, me, I'm a die-hard R/Hr shipper. And I also like H/G and Bill/Tonks, but besides that, in canon, I don't really care, unless it's Giant Squid/Anyone because that's just squicky. But with fanon, I like going all out and shipping the wierd ones. Though H/D is really popular.
Yeah, Draco's hot in the movies... but I go for dark guys, so I take Sirius. Thanks, Elemmire! If I could have bigger ones, like on some vBulletin sites, I'd have some even better ones... The size of LJ icons is nice.

Draco is hot in the movies...
Of course, Sirius used to be and still is my all-time favourite HP character... I am apparently unfaithful in Harry Potter fandom... I'm much more loyal to my favourite Middle Earth character , even after he died... Giant Squid/anyone... *shudders* Well... it does have 8 arms... I've been at the Men of the Silmarillion thread too much! And yes... any picture of Johnny Depp is okay by my book.

Who?
I'm entirely faithful to my fave HP character, even after he died. I'm still in denial though. I will be at least until HBP comes out. In the third movie especially... no more gelled hair!

I'm a Snape fan-woman. Mostly movie-Snape, of course.
So, Hasty, can you point me in the direction of a good Snape/ Hermi fanfic? (I do think it's a little squick, but my curiousity has gotten the better of me. ) I haven't read much fanfic of any kind, and I don't want to have to wade through sh*te in order to find one worth reading. |
